You west coast guys and your route signaling...

Speed signaling FTW!

If you guys are curious about what the NORAC signals are like, and what I'll be using, I've mirrored another resource here (for posterity, because we know the web is temporary): http://conrail1285.com/norac-signals/

Wow, I find that signaling system to be very confusing.  There didn't seem to me to be any logical progression to the signals and only subtle differences in signals that had significantly different meanings.

There's a prototype for everything.
If you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable.

Thats why I only use quasi real signal rules .. I've settled for a simple 1 or 2 head G-Y-R scheme .. loosely based on west coast ..

Yup .. 2 heads when there is a diverging track -- top head controls straight route, bottom head diverging ..  otherwise, one head ..  also have it set up for APB-2 so that there is 2 block protection all along the route, unless I am running CTC mode, in which case everything is controlled by the DS .. I only have a couple of sections where I have an intermediate .. Entry to the yards is always a restricted ..   Normally, when I am all by myself, which is most of the time -- the signals are lit, but don't change because I don't boot the logic on the computer

I've been spoiled by running on Steven Mallery's Buffalo Line: http://www.pamodelrailroads.com/smallery/ Although even he doesn't deal with "Medium clear". Hmm.

It’s that diverging bottom head that causes most of the trouble.

Now that I think about it, when lined for the main it'd be a "slow something", given the switches involved. \

Slow-clear (vertical on the PL dwarf) given that there's no signal at the other end of the CP that could trigger a need for a slow-approach.

Interested to see how this goes.  To my eye, there is some subtle uneveness in the wood, but that may be because everything is not tied together.  I guess you can shim individual brackets if things are not exactly level?

Oh yeah, there's a big uneven gap there but that's because I haven't tied it all together yet.

I hope there is some sort of cross support substructure planned. Otherwise I see side-by-side Pringles in a year or two.

There is. There's a stringer that runs the length in the back. Everything is screwed to that at the edges.

Also, I know it's passe to mention it, but holy ***** balls.
