Very neat ! Some of those will be quite stunning.....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

NS was either embarrassed or inspired into doing the "heritage" schemes by Lionel.

The past few days I've been helping our local history museum with their Lionel layout, which needed attention. In parts shopping I have been astounded to find many of the proposed NS heritage schemes have been available from Lionel on their SD70ace, and apparently for a while. Seems to be a case of the prototype following a model.

I believe they are the Andy Fletcher designs - Andy is a very interesting person, and the artist in residence at the Virginia Museum of Transportation...  Quite an inspirational story.

I suspect the Lionel designs came from Fletcher as well.

I'm glad to hear this because hopefully Fletcher will profit from his hard work...

I would have gone the other way with ERIE and NKP.

An interesting reminder of all of the really cool railroads that have been assimilated over the years by these giants.  A bit odd that these all look like they have been hand drawn and colored. I guess old school still works.

Best wishes, Dave

Some of these look nice, but its really shows how . . . interesting . . . modern railroad history is that NS considers PRR an ancestor . . .

It is just as much as Erie, Lackawanna, Reading, CNJ, Lehigh Valley and New York Central.

Dave - google Andy Fletcher -  he is an autistic person, who has loved trains all of his life and has established himself as a recognized artist in and outside of the railroad world.  He is a prominent part of the VMT in Roanoke and no doubt well known to NS management....

Hey, they're doing the red NS Tarwheel scheme, which I always thought to be rather handsome.  First time that scheme will ever be applied to an EMD; they'd have had more historical precedent to have put it on a GE.  Too bad the chances of me seeing them locally are pretty slim, but I can live with it.

I think they all look pretty cool, I especially like the "authentic" approach taken by NS, instead of the gaudy stylized  nonsense UP did.

I do question the tuscan on the PRR, afterall, these will be in freight service fer chrissakes.
and the NW scheme in blue, being the shortest lived of all NW paint schemes, with the possible exception of the pre-merger Claytor scheme.

One draw back, is if they're not garish enough, Kato won't touch them with a ten foot pole... too eastern!

Booo!  I was hoping for Erie black & yellow not cream & green PAX scheme.    Plus it's a GE. Yuck!

Cool though, now I won't enter foobie-land.

Pretty good looking lot.

Maybe this has been noted before, but will these all be GEVO's?  If so, maybe Kato or FVM will be motivated to tool a high headlight model for these.  That would be a boon for NS modelers.

Thanks for sharing this info Lou. A very inspiring story. I wasn't trying to criticize the drawings. It just seemed odd to me at first, but now makes perfect sense.

I thought the initial announcement said there'd be a Penn Central one.

Maybe NS didn't want to project that sort of corporate image.

I would have loved seeing a PC heritage unit.

The blue N&W was a dumb choice IMHO.  One or more of the "redbird" schemes would have been better I think.
