Folks, I seriously doubt the AEM7 - this would not be a doozy to most people and it's not a famous, iconic locomotive. In fact, if I recall, most fans hated them when they appeared.

My guess would once again be something like the UP 844 and the modern Heritage cars, a DD40X (yes, Bachmann has one, but Kato doesn't care),  the American freedom train is a possibility, or perhaps something like the Rocky Mountaineer or one of the Alaska cruise trains.

Another possibility:  RBBC train done correctly...

If they do something NE corridor-ish, my guess would be the original Metroliner, which would complete the late 1960's-1970's loop.

Think iconic, buzzworthy...

Kato never really goes for the big hint in print. Sometimes throwing us tidbits in the artwork for the ads. So I imagine this is pretty major. An AEM7 to go along with the new Amtrak would be logical but maybe not a BIG announcement for most of us, but it's still very possible. I seriously doubt it would be a circus train or a DD40 either. I would suspect a new 4-8-4 to go with a new passenger train or a Turbine if not the AEM7.

This thread reminds me.

Remember the time NScaleSteve made up the really good photochop of a fake Kato announcement poster? That sure ruffled some feathers.

I too am not to sure on the Freedom Train as I thought they had hinted earlier in the year to possible releasing one since they have just about everything they need. In that case the Freedom Train would not to me be a BIG announcement as they had hinted on it and its really nothing new but paint and a few special cars.

That would be like Atlas sending out an email saying they have a big announcement coming and its new paint schemes on SD70's.

Horizon cars and Toasters would be sweet as it truly is something N has not had. Tubes are an improvement (hopefully) of something we have, as well as an Acela.

Something I would like to see Kato do is North American interurban trains. They do so well on their Japanese models and have so many to choose from. I just picked up a set of their new EIDEN cars to Americanize up into subway cars for my red line.  Actual METRO, MBTA Red/Blue/Orange, PATH trains would be sweet in N.

Yes... I'm in N... Also HO and 1:1

Sure got everyone here talking.  Thinking maybe some other American steam is in the works.  Either that, or they are getting into O.

As long as it is the version with the EP-2 or the version with the skytop and super domes I am down.....

I still want my NCL though, it seems like a no-brainer, dunno why they have not done it, and what they have against NP

Speaking of models Kato will never do, those ES44AC's should be shipping in a couple of days!
