The photo makes it look bad but it's not really. It's just one of the steps in the process.

For reference, this is the area that this represents.

Of course things have changed a bit vegetation wise since the 1970s and I'm taking some liberties to make it a more enjoyable scene on a model railroad, but I think it gives a good idea of what I'm doing.

I’m not a fan of the large masonry building on the backdrop. It looks like it’s leaning.  Perspective is tough on three-dimensional objects on a 2-D backdrop sometimes.

I was just about to say it... The perspective makes it very odd except from exactly the right angle. And I see the same lean...like there's a sinkhole on the lefthand side. Can you do a simple broadside of the longest side? I bet AI could help with that.

Lets go with that. lol.

In reality, what happened was that I didn't follow my own process. Basically, this new grout that I'm working with is somewhat water repellent, which makes sense given what it's SUPPOSED to be used for. That means that the thick layer that resulted from my sifting of it over the landscape kept my water and glue mixture from soaking in.

So... don't buy this stuff for scenic purposes.

In order to resolve my issue with the water repellant grout I used a brush to brush the unglued excess off (which I usually do as part of my process, anyway). Then I wet the whole area down (which worked just fine) and hit it with some preliminary glue mix. I then built up my colors on top of that.

I'm not mad at this.

Everything is looking groovy, but the green stuff is back. In this case it appeared on some Micro-Engineering track that did NOT have any glue applied to it. That's really telling me it's likely my water. Gonna try using distilled going forward and see if that solves things.

Does your town give you water mineral suspension reports?
I get them yearly.

So I tried some distilled water in my wetting spray but I didn't swap out my glue. I STILL got some greening which brushed away while drying.

I think it's the water.

Sounds to me like the glue.  What did you dilute it with?
