Got a lot done this past weekend. Friday included a bunch of feeder soldering in prep for installing the Windsor Steet south end yard ladder.



Once that was in place, it was time to do a little railfanning. This is gonna need "mad focus stacking" when it's time for its glamour shots.



John's coaling tower seriously just makes this scene.



From there it was then onto the surprisingly easy installation of the bowl tracks.





Well, easy until you get to the middle, anyway. This is where I called it quits for the day.



It feels really good to be making this progress. I'm actually starting to think about putting myself on the schedule for some fall open houses.

Not much visible progress on the layout these past few weeks, but I did pick up a pair of structures to fill out a recent MBK order.

I had a green one of these, but the gray looks so much more appropriate for Conrail buildings.

Now that I've got everything done under the yard it's time to turn my attention to the reason I spent all those evenings slicing between each tie: spreading out the ties to make it all look like proper yard track.

I started the process last night.

What do you think? Is it noticeable? Do I need to go further?

Lol, at this point? I'd say no.

But that's actually a really good thought for the future. Hmm.

BTW, for reference, here are some photos of the real thing. Keep in mind that the mains in my version would still be "mainlines" as opposed to the under-maintained branch it was in real life.
