Not sure what all cars would be in the set vs what Friends of the 261 have rostered but I know of at least two. So for those of us that dream of a 261 or like to throw private varnish on the back of our Amtrak trains it will be great. It will give my Silver Rapids, Silver Lariat and Silver Solarium a break.

Also have the CNW Super Dome that they used for their business train. Honestly if they beat (and probably will) Centrailia to the market with Super Dome, it would be hot commodity to sell separately one would think.

A 261 would be great. I'd buy one, an original version.  Let's not forget Kato could also pull an electric rabbit out of its hat, with aLittle Joe at some point.

I have just found my copy of the Milwaukee 'Olympian Hiawatha' brochure dated 1953 shown at the top of the Kato initial announcement. I think I bought it around 1963/4. It pays to keep everything!

I am in on this release, but I have to say it is an interesting mix of overlap, or dare I say challenge, to other companies.  Milwaukee Road has been FVM territory passenger wise, Intermountain FP units, and Centrailia super dome.  I am glad to see them branch out and not be afraid to overlap their peers. 

I hope this leads to UP schemed MR E units and FP's.

My wallet is safe (in 1957 the trainsets were painted in UP colors) but I love that Kato is producing this!
and the FP7 as a new locomotive!...lots of possibilities there...

My choice of power would have been different though but maybe that would be inaccurate with the big dome...I'm no Milwaukee expert, just know what I like...

I'd think, with a whole MILW train available, that an Erie-built shell in resin or Shapeways would be done by somebody. Didn't the old shells made way back fit on a ConCor PA? But today we have KATO and BLI PA1s so the running would be top-notch.
