I was wondering that.  So they are using 3D printing to make the test shots before going through the tooling to
do a true injection molded shell?  I think that makes sense for getting proportions and fit on the mechanism right,
as long as they don't do that for the production model.

When did they go tuscan from DGLE? I think the DGLE Es look so sharp.

According to Keystone Crossings, August 1952 is when they started painting passenger power tuscan. One of the benefits of me targeting 1950 on my layout: I don't have to blame all the DGLE power on alternate history.

Using RP (3D-printed) parts for checking things like proportions and fit has been used for quite some time now. "RP stands for "rapid prototyping" after all.  Actually AFAIK that was the main reason stereolitography was developed in the first place.

But it would be way too expensive to use stereolitography on a production scale for the finished product (at least at this point in time).

Need BLI to do the PRR I1

the PRR T1 is not on the production schedule.  I thought that this was to be this year.   It does show a rerun of the M1a/b for September 2017, with Paragon 3.

Word from the PRRT&HS guys that are working with BLI, the HO GG1, P5, and streamlined K4 is that these projects are delayed due to soft reservations.  Not sure if that is the case for the N scale T1.  Although these models show up on their website and in their paper catalog, there has been no advertising so I am not sure how they expect reservations to grow.

Yes, BLW is taking reservations, but they are showing a different T1 version than BLI is showing. I assume that MB Klein, even though they do not take reservations, must reserve a good quantity with BLI. I hope that BLI will be at the N scale convention next month. I will slip some truth serum in Ken's drink and get the low down.
