Well, I have been working on a project for quite a while now and have absolutely no photos to show for all my efforts.  Have anyone else ever felt like that?

Its not in vain since I am ready to reveal a project that has been on my mind for several years now, building a couple of business cars from the Micro-Trains Pullman Plan 3959 observation car.  If you might be interested I invite you to visit the page below which is my first step in documenting how things go with this project.  As always comments, complaints, ideas and suggestions are always welcome!!!

I tinkered with the old Rowa fluted coach I picked up Saturday at the show, installing low-pro wheels and MT couplers.  Then I cut a big hole in my bathroom ceiling to install a vent fan.  Then I ran trains for a bit while listening to the pleasant sound of the Ravens snatching victory away from the Stillers with 8 seconds to go.  Nice weekend, I'd say.

Oh yeah!

As for me this weekend, I did something quite productive today. Bamboozled Russ and Sean to come back to my place and finish my track for me. I did bribe them with the potential of Wawa, pizza, and trip to the now active Sparrows Point.

It paid off too. I now have all of the track down on the layout. I need to add the throw rod into the last micro switch turnout control, then it's onto wiring (and FINALLY real scenery).

I need to post pictures!! But I'm waiting till a little more scenery is done, I'm currently working on a junkyard and thanks to nscaleworld on ebay I've been obtaining plenty of rust bucket vehicles for the scene . I also just about finished my Traincat line-west signal bridge 4-track version.

First, Dave -best wishes for a speedy recovery (or at least a good buzz from the meds)! Second, Tony -congratulations on the new mailbag bundle!

Lastly ACME Labs: Skunkwerks kicked out another steamer from the stables. Basically did a shell swap, a 1st generation shell on the 2nd generation chassis frame (with sound/dcc). I outlined the disassembly here (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=24880.0)



The Carshops continued work on a B&O caboose, just need to add the tool/battery/gen boxes, couplers and paint. How Greg Jones or Tony built two of these without losing their minds is beyond me. I was able to break the floor completely in half on one, then could not for the life of me get the endrails to stay adhered. I'd go to work on some other part and then blow another part off. This kit could seriously benefit from some revisions to the roofwalk by adding tongs to insert through the shell (think Fine N Scale walkways that have them). Another revision would be to incorporate the endrails into the steps as one plate that would fold underneathe the body.



It was easier to tear-down the 2-8-8-2 than to build the stinking caboose.

No new stuff for me - the Timonium finds are even still packed away - as I was on Amtrak Saturday AM coming back from Princeton, then spent Saturday evening watching LSU defeat Alabama (!) and the Sunday in recovery mode from said game.

Yup, it's called paintshop primer...only lasts about 24hrs on every caboose

Tony pretty much nailed out all the paintschemes, he also has decals too. I'm most likely doing at least one in an early red. I may do a second in a late red or blue (I have two Athearn bay windows which I am going to be painting up in blue which may slight my hand towards two red).

Post-op hospital infections are so common these days and with super bugs like C-Difficile the sooner
you go home the better,  have a speedy recovery.

Anymore hospitals are the place to go to get sick.  I would not wish C-Diff on anyone.  My wife came down with it in the hospital recovering from surgery.  All antibiotics except one are useless against it.   The one that will control it is Flagil.   Now anytime my wife has to take an antibiotic she has to take Flagil with it.  For those unaware  C-Diff is a bacteria that we all have in our digestive system along with other bacteria.  Under normal conditions they all keep each other more or less in check.  Everything is hunky dory until something upsets the balance.   Antibiotic therapy will kill off or weaken the bacteria that keeps the C-Diff in check allowing it to multiply unimpeded and causes severe diarrhea to the point where the body quickly dehydrates which can bring on a whole new set of potentially serious problems.  So it is not something to mess with.

I was home the day after surgery, so only one night in the hospital.  Pain was so bad the first night home I was literally crying out loud.  Here I was, an otherwise healthy 37-year-old Air Force squadron commander, and my wife was holding my head as I cried like a baby.  My whole back had spasmed and wouldn't unclench; I had allowed myself to get behind on the meds.  I have to say that it was the most painful thing I've ever felt.  I felt like the screws were going to burst out through my skin.

In contrast, today I got my staples taken out, was able to visit the squadron for 30 minutes, and had lunch at Five Guys Burgers.  I even did some train work at my workbench today.

What an amazing world we live in that in one week I'm so much better after spinal fusion surgery!
