The McCabe Ttrak module (Nn3 + Ttrak) is coming along nicely.   Enginehouse roughed out and done except for final details,  so I get to pose my own Climax A and the Showcase Nn3 bitty Shay parked after a long day in the woods.   Lots to do here, but this is certainly motivation to push forward.

Hi
I haven’t done much modelling for a while, most of the last few months have been spent digitising 40+ years of railroad and aircraft videos and getting them up on YouTube.  Some wonderful memories of North American railfan trips as well as our own New Zealand Railways from bygone days.  Still so may hours to edit and upload.

I did manage to nearly finish my Rayonier S-12 which was started when I worked for Rayonier NZ over 20 years ago.  Can anyone beat that as a record for a project?  It’s not as well finished as SPWolf’s SP version, but after 20 years, I’ll take it.

Have a great weekend.
Cheers
Steve

Fantastic!
I rode those Baldwins.
My Uncle’s cousin was a Rayonier Engineer here in Washington State.  (It’s true)
In fact, my Uncle bought (with partners) and hauled off, with the help of a crane, then loaded on a barge, a Rayonier Baldwin 2-6-6-2T, the 8 Spot from Sekiu, WA. (I have photos somewhere, but I think they are online)
Still surviving, though after it left our property, and my Uncle’s death, I’ve lost track of its whereabouts.

My Uncle…

After years of on and off work, I finally finished upgrading a pair of Bachmann H16-44 units. Way back, I installed NCE drop-in decoders that piggy-backed off the stock motherboards, but I never was happy with the functionality. The bodies, originally Norfolk & Western, had to be modified for New Haven. On the mechanisms, I discarded the NCE decoders and the stock motherboards. I designed and 3D-printed caddies for both ends that held new LED light boards that I assembled as well as LokPilot decoders and ISE PowerKeepers. The caddies were designed so that the cabs are still see-through. Hancock whistles were added to the body, as well as body-mounted MTL couplers in 3D-printed coupler pockets. True-Scale couplers allow for close coupling between the units, 1015s on the ends for standard operation. They still need some light weathering but happy to get these off the project list. I always liked these units, but Bachmann only released them once and they are impossible to find now.

Any chance there's a how to coming soon?

I finished the underframe for my museum train water car, copying the Intermountain bunks and drilling the holes for the mounting pins:

I now have a good fit between the styrene underframe and printed tank:

I also worked with my friend Geoff to render and print parts for the steam pumps on the two tank cars.

Water car with 3D steam pump part:

Fuel car with 3D steam pump part:

I hope to make significant progress on these cars in advance of displaying the train at the Sea To Sky Model Train Show next weekend.

I will dig through 20 years of photos to see what I've got.  I should have some progress shots somewhere.

One correction on Homestake Pass:  It is NOT "abandoned".  It's embargoed, and hasn't had a train in decades, but it is not, legally, abandoned.  Basically, it's in limbo, like the East Broad Top, and could be restored to service at any time.

I picked up some very old circus equipment at the Madison Train Show a few weeks ago from a gentleman's collection to add to my late 1940's RBBB train.

Two stock cars.  These are old Raintree kits (they bought the master molds from someone else....).  the castings are pretty crude and no matter how much I worked on them, I couldn't get the bows out of the roofs.  Circus City Decals.  Krylon "Dull Aluminum" spray paint.  Flat Red Tamiya.  Micro Trains Bettendorf trucks.  Fox Valley (Scale Trains) metal 33" inch wheels.

Two Micro Trains Warren Flat Cars.  I stripped them (they were lettered for Royal American Shows Carnival) and applied Circus City Decals.  Painted the deck a wood color and hit it with Tamiya panel liner.

The loads are a combination of old Raintree kits, Circus City Decals wagons, and I don't remember where I picked up the Mack truck (I added the van body to it).  Decals for the loads should be arriving in the mail today, so I'll apply them and chock the  wagons to the flats when completed.
