I just did it minutes ago!    I have a bunch of spare tips, but haven't needed to change them out. I was soldering joints and every 6-7 joints I would get the black build up, dipped it right into the flux and kept going. Tip comes out clean

Got the track at CP GEORGE in and wired up half of them. Then I realized I will short of wire.

Luckily a trip to Lowes will solve the problem.

I also extended the panel to include the new interlocking.

What does CP stand for? I'm assuming its not Canadian Pacific, and it seems to be a signal related term, so is it Control Point? Or what?

Yep. Control Point. I believe it was a NYC thing that PC adopted and passed on to Conrail.

While the NC was PRR territory, I'm assuming the PC rebuilt a bit of it after Agnes, and so the various rebuilt interlockings are known as "CP"s.

Some of the other spots, like in New Freedom will follow original PRR nomenclature.

KCS has CPs as well - which will no doubt make the impending merger easier on the CP crews

I love it when it all goes right.

I grabbed some more wire to feed the rest of CP George. Ran the cable, clipped the scotch locks and ran a locomotive over it. The track lit right up on the DS panel.

Given the amount of times something gets in the way of something that should be straight forward, I am taking the time to appreciate a moment when it all goes right.

I was at the prototype with Ed yesterday and now understand this area.  Ed, you nailed it.  I can’t wait to operate it.  But, I call dibs on running the helpers with the worst crap locos you’ve got.

I love the era-appropriate car parked where we reconned the "York Diamond Railroad Crossing," which (fun fact!) is considered a tourist attraction on Google Maps.
