well both mine look amazing and run good (will need some breakin) and sound OK too.  But I will re-do the speaker like I did on the 1st run units I have.  One issue was one of the number boards was missing on one of the locos and it wasn't lying in the box either.  Anyway called ST a couple of hours ago and they took some notes and will be looking into it on Monday so hopefully I will get the missing numberboard in the mail soon. 
I tried to find out if ST will do the SD70M flat rad in SP but that isn't on the cards yet.   I know Kato have some coming and thats great too but not in SP (yet). I really like the ST rivet counter locos I have already, I know I will be getting more.

thanks for the link. for some reason, my pc wanted to download it as an XML file but changing the file type to esux seems go have worked.

I have a love-hate relationship with ST....

I love the details of the rivet counter model - I've owned about 6 D9's and ET44's.

But one was DOA and all the others had loose parts or warped handrails.  The handrails on all are flimsy and constantly come out of their attachment points.

I'm frankly afraid to touch them much less run them...   ):

Just changed the speaker in my new scale trains dash 9.

The OEM speaker is an 11x15 shown here just stuck diaphragm side down onto the bottom of the tank using a 1mm thick self adhesive foam ring.  This gives about 170mm3 of speaker enclosure.

I took that out just by desoldering the wires and building a new enclosure for a 9x16 speaker installed as shown.
Diaphragm side facing down toward the track giving me now over 800mm3 of enclosure.

Big difference in sound. I didn’t even have to take the shell off.

I really hate to bump this post again. But my original preorder from my LHS came in today. Two of the three were good. The third well everything was there and nothing broken, it just has an orange grab iron on the AC unit. Had it not been for the missing one on the other trio order, I wonder how long it would have taken me to notice.

Maybe that is prototypically correct for that engine. You won’t be able to tell after a little weathering.

Ah, if only, I can't find a prototype pic that any of the 101 units had any of those grab irons being any color but grey.

  Except for the small fault on the H2, I love these units!!  I'm actually inspired to do some detail work on my KATO's.  Intermountain's will be interesting to see!!

I'm pretty sure they have said that they plan on doing the AC44C6M at some point.
