Bummer.  All the 1st run NS rivet counter units with sound are sold out.   Without is still a good deal but not quite as good as the with sound by the time you add a LokSound 5 decoder and speaker.

So I'm saved!  I have two and that's probably enough.

Like I said, I saw it on a FB group, so I thought I'd pass it along. I picked up 2 more NS Dash 9-44CW's, as I'm lacking non-HU power for NS. Funny enough, earlier this week, I had bought (from a retailer) a NS Dash 9-44CW and a C39-8. Guess I've got enough NS power for now, have to put some sound in at a later time.

Thanks for posting this thread!  Went to their website to take a look and ended up buying 3 BNSF H1 units!

This includes their second run of Dash 9’s

Operator Non DCC - $62
Operator DCC - $85
Rivet Counter  Non DCC - $90
Rivet Counter DCC - $112
Rivet Counter DCC/Sound $144

Get on it quick, most of that sound ones are already out of stock.

These prices are also good through Local Hobby Shops if they carry ST.

Oh dear… I'm too late to this party  :(

Does anyone have a spare ScaleTrains N Operator BNSF Heritage I Dash 9 #1099? They sold out everywhere and ScaleTrains says they have no more in reserve. I would happy pay the non-discounted price, and don't mind whether it is DC or DCC.

(Sorry this should probably go in the trading post section - but I figure this topic might get more ScaleTrains Dash 9 eyeballs.

Please get in touch via PM if you are swimming in Dash 9s!

Cheers

I was a little too late to this party too, although I gather there were no BNSF H2 units included (which is all I'm really looking at).

I find I'm stuck somewhere between regretting not getting any while I still could and being somewhat glad I didn't for the following 2 (questionably-coherent) reasons...

1) I didn't want these to totally eclipse my (moderately-sized) fleet of Kato dash-9's as far as appearance and details, rendering my Kato's to being somewhat meh.

2) I didn't want to introduce yet another take on the BNSF H2 paint scheme to my fleet that might not match any of my other stock models or custom-painted and decaled units (sort of a sticking point with me). Regarding this, how do these look next to, say, the Kato H2 units as far as paint color and striping?

This sale appears to have been a smashing success. I wonder if Scaletrains.com will offer similar deals on their leftover Tier$ GEVOs and other runs of models?

They sold out PDQ.  They billed me now so my two SP rivet counter Dash 9’s will probably ship on Tuesday.  I will re-do the speaker arrangement though so it has a decent baffle/enclosure.

I'll 2nd this, I bought most of the ones I got as DC only, and I'd like to add sound to a couple of them. I added the LokPilot V5 that scaletrains had in stock (now out of stock), and they run phonemically, very similar to how my zimo decoders run.

Hi Guys,
I documented the how to in this thread.  I used a 9x16mm speaker (I find they sound better than an 11 x15 (or at least the 11x15’s I have). Hope this helps you.
ST just peel and sticks an 11 x15mm speaker diaphragm up onto the solid metal frame in the tank recess, so the enclosure afforded is tiny.

All the first run as delivered BNSF H2s were included in the sale.

Although I dont have a Kato BNSF H2 D9, I have a SD70MAC and AC44CW, for comparison to the ScaleTrains D9. The color isn't that much of a difference. Even comparing the newer Kato BNSF swoosh D9. The ST D9 is a tad darker in orange than the Kato versions, but I also have bright LEDs and they did to make the difference appear more drastic at times.

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...
