I'm with the AS-616 crowd. Long overdue classic.

Too many configurations to make everyone happy.

This. Also the case for Justin's GP11 and SD20, "SD40-3s", pretty much any Genset, etc., etc. Recycled rebuilds are all over the place on details, with many being one-offs. "Standardized" rebuild programs are only standard until somebody in the rebuild shop comes up with a better idea for something.

Rebuilt units are where 3D printing can shine, either with details to apply to existing models or whole shells.

But scaletrains has a history of producing models that are more or less obscure. Everything they've done in N, with the tier 4 gevos as the exception, has been relatively obscure or not produced widely in 1 to 1.
My guess is we'll see a tier 4 sd70 or dd40 excursion example with see through car body center. If they did something steam(unlikely imo) I think the NW j class would be a good model as others mentioned or maybe drasko will get his atsf 2-10-2.

There was a notable lack of 'never done before in N scale' hype to this pre-announcement.  That's why I'm not too hopeful for a GP40X or an SDP45 or a C36-7. I'm a bit more hopeful for a good redo of something that could be done significantly better than before.  In that category we'd have tunnel motors and GP50 in the top slots I think, followed closely by GP30.  (Am I forgetting something?)

Then again, maybe they are just being coy.  He did say two locos in N, right?

I am thinking one of them will be a big time UP power to go with the turbine.

im going to say highly doubtful unfortunately lol. I appreciate the thought though Pete!!!!
I hope they don't do a J. Weve had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much repetition in this scale, especially ones that have been produced within a very short time of other mfgs. all I can do is hope its something I can use that might ease some of project load.

One more to toss in: a CF7. That would be a great model for N scale.

Got my CF7's covered too thanks to @randgust   Too bad @Ed Kapuscinski can't say the same thing, yet.  Come on Ed, time's running out

RS27..RS 3 low nose, MP 15AC. I would sell my blood and plasma for two RS 27's.

You know, an etched panel with the proper louvers and louver placement along with correct porthole placement for an F9 would make a great retrofit for @Scott Lupia to add to his E/F unit etchings line.

Dash 9's  would cost me and a lot of other people a lot of money. With IM on the sidelines with their future offering at the moment, this is still the biggest loco by volume missing in N scale at the moment.

N Scale Phase 2 GP39-2. Very common on the big lines. Atlas has only done the Ph 1, so it is still an undone engine.
