Next Seaboard installment.  A diner.  This was a fun little project.  It is sides from a Rivarossi car with the top 1/3 removed and a new letter board from a 12-1 added and a few other modifications made.  I then grafted these onto the Micro-Trains diner.  I also made some table settings by resizing a Google image and printing it out on regular white paper to simulate table cloths.  I found some very tiny silver beads at Michael's to use as vases.

Hot damn, Andrew, that's beautiful! Wow...
You lost me on the Google image table settings, say what? Can you please clarify, because whatever it is, it's gorgeous!

The return of better weather has allowed the painting outside on my balcony of some pieces to be added to the layout.  These include the fascia portion of the helix cover, a horizontal extension to the fascia for the Chetwynd station and freight shed, vertical extensions to the fascia for throttle pockets at Chetwynd, some holders for uncoupling picks, and a shelf below for the layout lighting power supplies:

With the fascia portion painted dark green to match the helix enclosure, the helix cover was ready for final installation:

I hope to get the remaining new pieces installed this coming week.  Work is also progressing on installation of the Singlet servo drivers, connection to servos and programming of endpoints for the remaining turnouts at Chetwynd.

Thanks Otto!

By Google image I mean that I did a search for "Table setting" or something similar in Google..  I found an image that I thought would work and copied it into "Word".  I duplicated it and then by trial and error printed it out in a size that fit the dining car interior.

This looks a little more minimalist:

On a more topical note, I installed a scratchbuilt wooden trestle:

All that's left to do is add guardrails and footings.

A twofer for me this week.  I just finished up this SAL "E4" this morning.  I was able to get this beautiful, factory painted Life-Like unit from Tom Davis (thanks Tom!!) and added the essential Seaboard details.  The E4s had slotted pilots so I added some decals to simulate those.  I then added nose grabs, wind deflectors, roof top number board, z-scale coupler, and painted the grills and grabs.  I like the mid fifties as you would see these two paint schemes running together.

Will you be using some of USP's sides when you get to doing the passenger cars?

I've been in the process of moving to a new house over the past few weeks, so I've made little progress. But today I finally got the layout set up in the new place and took a couple shots. There's lots of natural light in the new room which is great for layout photos!
