Sorry: but PC = PRR + NYC does not rate anywhere close to being one of the "worst corporate mergers ever devised".
The experts have this to say:

https://www.therichest.com/business/companies-business/historys-5-worst-corporate-mergers/

However, my own personal least-favorite is InBev = Miller-Coors + Anheuser-Busch + Euro-crap.

Consequently, I now only drink stuff brewed at micro-breweries, and am enjoying it more!
Regards,
Paul

Very sorry, on my layout the earth met a cataclysmic end on January 31, 1968.  Fail Safe meets Dr. Strangelove.  Not the beginning of the end, just THE END.  No mating worms.

PRR SD40 6072 received a PC paint job and was on display in Philadelphia on February 1, 1968.
Where was it repainted? Juniata?
If so, when did it travel to Philly and by what route?  On, or prior to, January 31, 1968 and via the Middle Division?

I know exactly how you feel. My Union Pacific world ended in December 1982, when it became MP in a yellow dress. :x

Doug:  That PC could have worms, which would explain why it's been taken apart:

"A computer worm is a standalone malware computer program that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers. Often, it uses a computer network to spread itself, relying on security failures on the target computer to access it." - Wikipedia

Well played Sir!
But that is a photo of a gaming computer and it is not taken apart. Cases of gaming computers (which are usually custom-built) are often made with clear skin and are illuminated inside so your buddies can see all the expensive hardware installed inside. Some even have water-cooled CPU chip.

Interesting. Tell me more about that.

I guess I'll go bust out the PC fleet today to show it off. I have way more of it than I should.

In the meantime, here's one of my favorites. It's one of Eastern Seaboard's finest shot in the style of the time.

OOh, I forgot.

These photos are Railwire AF. They're shot on the M&O by @John, with a trio of power, 2/3 of which was formerly owned by @Dave V and @wm3798 with a load of Lee's former cars as well.

There's another shot here that loops in two MORE Railwire members too: http://conrail1285.com/a-visit-to-my-friend-johns-mo/

I'm modeling 1972, so you can't ignore the 800-lb gorilla in the room.   I've got a few PC cars, and most are relatively pristine.   But my absolute favorite is this one.  I worked for a small steel mill in PA between 1979 and 1983, and the inbound scrap gons looked like they just came back from the Battle of the Bulge....  I do remember being able to walk down the line of outbound empties and know they were empty because you could see through the holes in the sides....

That's beat with a hot soldering iron, and the car lowered on the bolsters.

Whew. I didn't get to see Lee's worm.

Ed's still here, though.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Peteski:  Interesting that the gamers would want to show off the insides of their computers.

I've heard of water-cooled CPUs, but those were high-end corporate and scientific systems.  On the other hand, today's games probably require as much processor power as those, so it would make sense.

Warning...TRW thread drift...Water cooling now days is more about the glam of the product than efficiently cooling the processor. With a high end chips (500-1000 bucks) only pulling 90-130 watts and an average chip only between 45-65 watts at full load, the difference between a big water cooling system and a big air-cooled heat sink is just a few degrees centigrade. Some people argue that water cooling is silent, but really the heat sink has one fan while the radiator for the water cooled system generally has two. The component that really benefits from water cooling is the video/graphics card. A high end card can get really hot playing games or running math programs such as a bitcoin mining application or DNA compiler. Due to space limitations they generally have a smaller heat sink but have a higher wattage and heat dissipation need than a CPU. Thread drift over...Okay let's get back to the ill fated PC and mating of the worms
