I got a set of weathering powders. I do like them, but like you said, dull coat takes the edge off them...often too much for my taste. I feel like I can never get powders to "stick" when applying them. I use make up applicators and a lot of pressure, and multiple applications to get the desired effect.
Then I tried Pan Pastels.
Problem solved.
But dang they are expensive, but at least one tin is a lifetime supply.
I'd have the whole pallet of they sold them at half the quantity and half the price.

No, I said "Ed's Law."

The one in Richie's photo looks like a Boxpok driver. Erie replaced old wheels with them.

Well I dunno you got me  :P

Dee:  PC may not have had steam locos, but Walthers made decals for them!  Stirred up quite a controversy at the time.  Oddly, no one seemed to mind the BN or GN Big Sky Blue style steam decals.  They had a fourth one, but I don't remember what it was.

@robert3985,

Yes, sir!  Glued and screwed, except in places where I'll need to take it apart for portability.

Thanks,

My latest project. My version of Hwy 101. (It is still a work in process - excuse the glue cup)- I still need to blend in better - the oil stains down the middle of the lanes.

Thanks,

Used my recently purchased chopper to cut ties for my #8 crossovers
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]
I then printed out the fast track templates. Marked what size ties go where and glued them all down to the paper template.
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Here it is with all the ties glued down.

After that I set the switches down into the ties, verifying everything was good and then glued them down to the ties taking care to not get glue on the points.
I also soldered a wire to the frog to connect to either a tortoise or Cobalt switch.

Anyone have any experience with the cobalt switch machines?

A rainy weekend allowed for a flurry of gluesticks, construction paper and colored pencils in a way not seen since second grade, dressing up the foamcore mock ups on the switching layout:

I was really surprised at, as crude as it is, between marking out roads/sidewalks with paint and making white boxes actually look like buildings has helped with spatial and visual planning. Plus it was fun  :D

Thanks for looking!

Thank you, Otto

I know, I have yet to decide what I want to do for a back drop (A decision that should have been made a long time ago). I think, I'm just going to do clouds -- just haven't decided.

Going back and cleaning up the wiring ..  I had run a 12VDC power line around the layout when I started, but found the DIGITRAX devices and the length of the run dropped voltage to 9VDC by the time it got the the other end of the run. Rather than add another PS, I decided to put in several PS14s

- 10x UP5s powered by PS14s (5 UPs per PS)
- 1x BDL168's and SE8Cs with 1x PS14
- 1x BDL168 and 2X SE8C with 1x PS14
- 2X DS64 with 1x PS14
- 2X DS64 with 1x PS14

Replaced the batteries in 2x DB150s and 1x DCS100
