BLI Updated their Product Delivery Schedule page on Jan 18th.  Items in N Scale on the list are:

GE ES44AC - In stores.

Cryogenic Tank car  -  Due August 2018 - New model - Unexpected.  Not in the 2016/2017 catalog.

Are they high? ES44C: Two manufacturers already. F3/F7: Two manufacturers already. And now a SD40-2? They don't even have the advantage of sound since Intermountain offers sound equipped models already. None of their decisions make any sense.

Well, too new for me anyway, it's a modernized version with nose lift rings and a 48" DB fan....

Another SD40-2, yes, but if it's the same artwork as their HO version, then they've scooped Intermountain by offering the early-phase version IM hasn't announced yet. Don't know if I'll bother with it because of BLI's sound requirement which is too pricey for something I don't want and will remove. Also, at least as indicated by the HO model, their choice of UP striping scheme and numbering makes it a rebuilt SD40-2N, which doesn't do me any good anyway.

I'll muddle along with the Katos already in the fleet, old tooling, fat hoods and all.

As to the Fs, not on my radar but they don't look all that bad. The side skirt removal is astute modeling, I like to see that. Separate grabs are too big, of course, but like others before the photos probably exaggerate the bulk. "The camera adds 20 pounds," you know.

It would be nicer if the "surprise" was porting their HO RSD-15 to N. No competition there, and talk about pent-up demand.

I'm curious to see if there are some proportion issues with the body.  The pictures and drawings definitely make it look that way.

I see here another example of a model with free-standing factory-applied grab irons which are too thick, making the model look like a toy rather than a pricey miniature replica.  If you can't do it right, mold them onto the shell.
