I still need to go out and snatch up as much polyscale paint as I can allow myself in respect to how much I can find.
I need to get the all-important PRR colors before they vanish from the earth.

Been too burnt out lately with doing 1:1 scenery in the backyard.  I did finally find a used, gray C420 at NSS and put a decoder into it today.

Trying to get motivated to start in on the scrapyard.

I finally finished my Northern Pacific heavyweight diner project, affectionately called "Frankendiner".  This thing has pieces and parts from who-knows-where.

I hosted Doug Nelson an Claus Schlund for a layout tour this afternoon.  I was very glad to meet them and had a wonderful time discussing all things Pennsy.  That being said, I was about ready to take a sledgehammer to my layout when the system that had dutifully run trains for over an hour this morning suddenly failed due to a short.  As Claus said, Murphy's Law strikes again.  After they left, I tracked the problem down to a malfunctioning Digitrax AR-1.  I fixed it by smacking it with a screwdriver.  When I demonstrated the fix for my wife, the AR-1 shorted out again.  When I smacked it again, it fixed itself.  Digitrax AR-1's hereby join MRC decoders in being banned from my layout.

Work continues on the Troup Junction area...rocks were painted and ground cover put in.

Kettle Falls power in the weeds on the tail track.

Here is the entrance to East staging...I have been wondering about this area ever since I first sketched it out but I didn't have much choice as the tracks on the other side pass below and behind some dramatic scenery (McCormack Creek trestle) and the prototype had no tunnels anywhere near this area to hide the passage through the backdrop.  Once tall trees are in place I think it will be passable and the jarring effect will be reduced.  We shall see...

The Hotshot from Cranbrook coming through on the CPR main

I think this will be an interesting angle up from the lakeside, of course hard to tell until trees are in...the GN line descending the 5% grade to Troup from behind Nelson.

I also am nearly complete the second rev prototype of the Train order semaphore.  I hope to test it this weekend and so can report on it next week.

Have a great one!
