Still can't tell positively about the Wisconsin & Southern handrails and walkway. But it does look a little bright.

The SD40-2's showed up at Kleins and they have 82, yes 82, undecorated versions in stock.  Curious to see how long they remain in stock...

BLW has them, too.   I've got 2 Mid-Production models ordered from Skipgear's shop.  Mine will be stripped and redone as NS units, but by the time I get around to it I may have to add an Admiral Cab.

What's the difference between the early- and mid-production SD40-2?  For example, if I were to paint up a Seaboard Coast Line SD40-2, perhaps patched for the Seaboard System, how do I know if an early-production unit is appropriate?

I still have a pair of these from the last run.I believe they are Mid production Santa Fe style.They are for sale or trade for CSX SD70 Aces.I just don't have time to paint them.

Dave, the early units have a ratchet handbrake and chicken wire radiator grilles, the mids have a brake wheel and corrugated radiator grilles

Thanks, Ike.  That helps.  It would appear that the SCL SD40-2s are not early production.
