Bachmann Alco S-4 and 2-6-0

Holy smokes Batmann . All we need now is an S-1 and S-3 . Truly would be grand if the S-2 shell was interchangeable with the S-4 , and vice versa . The S-6 is a stunning switcher , but that would be asking too much .

The second switcher has the start of the big P on the side.
Looks more like an SW though.

But that looks like an SW(1500?) too.
Thought Chris might like the sign detail, though

Yeah I meant an S alco. They looked like this in 1960:

But also those locos with the large P&LE on them are black not pacemaker green like the Bachmann model.

Further Those SW1500's were bought in 1971 and I'll bet they didn't get "P&LE" on them until some time after 1977.

may be offtopic but I'm really interested if someone would make an Alco RSD-15...have two of the old Mehano units remotored with Sagami motors but the detailing is very crude...

PRR's RSD-15s were used in transfer service between Enola and Harrisburg Yards over Rockville bridge, so my Enola Yard should have one.

Nice to see Bachmann listens....the Mogul seems to have the shorty tender rather than the USRA monster that came with the ten-wheeler. Says who you can't squeeze DCC into impossibly small spaces...
That AND two new Alco Switchers! Life is good, even if the wallet hurts....

So from the P&LE yahoo group it looks like that scheme Bachmann used is a complete foobie. At best guess Bachmann got the idea from a Howard Fogg postcard, he was know for putting "P&LE" in white on the hood of locos in this paintings. Perhaps MTL and Bachmann share research info?

I would have bought a P&LE S4 if they painted it right. Here is a 1962 pic with special history to me:


The 0-6-0 was used at a YS&T steel mill in Hubbard OH (where I lived as a kid) It was later used at their Youngstown, OH mill (where I was born) Later it was used at the coal power plant in Niles, OH (where I get my power from) and now the locomotive is at the local fairgrounds on display.

I am interested in this steam release even though a B&O version is not listed.

I am posting this because the other post on this forum has not drawn much comment about the engine.
I like the DCC mode option of B'mann newer steam locomotives.  I could probably rationalize adding one of these to my roster even it I had to paint over the original road name and reletter for B&O.

The above bold, underlined is my original separate topic post about the Bachmann n-scale 2-6-0 and reflects my hope for further comments on the engine.
