UP 1242 pre-paint as it was when it retired . When put on display at Lions Park  , Cheyenne , they changed the headlight location to match 1243 for some reason .

I have finished bashing the crap out of a WOT 70' baggage..... this took more time than I had budgeted but it turned out ok.... if you can live with an extra scale 2.5 foot wide door gap; a single rivet upper and lower sill vs a wider sill then it's damn close to the prototype.........regardless; I'm ok with it.......

I've spent my week upgrading various pieces of equipment with Z scale couplers and BLMA wheelsets that I picked up from Craig at Springfield.

This week we had two storms. With the rain today, the ice dam on one side of my roof started backing up water into the attic. One of the firefighters I work with came over and we cleared about 30" of snow from my roof.

Not much modeling done this week, went to Springfield last weekend and have been wrking virtually every day since.

I spent a few hours applying various levels of dirt and grime to some cars.   Plenty more are awaiting the same treatment.

Grimy wash followed by powders and a final rust brush using micro brushes........ya get lucky some days mate !

I built these:



On the left is a penny  , the middle is an MU receptacle, and the right an electronic horn.  I'm still deciding on how much detail to put into the receptacle, I think I'll need a cover.  The horns are on their 5th attempt, but at least each one has gotten better.

My chop nose SD-7 got a boost this week when I realized that the SD-9 had the latter class lights that aren't inset from the sides.  I think all I need to do is rebuild the short hood and I have all the modeling done (going to work on that right now).

I have spent the afternoon and evening body mounting couplers and changing trucks and wheels on several recently acquired RTR freight cars.  During the past week I also managed to put in some time drilling holes and forming etched parts for installation on my C-420 632.

As noted in another thread, I've started a new Z Scale layout project: http://ganddinz.blogspot.com/

I've done the first official modeling for the layout, which is now six days old--a through plate girder bridge, which is a bashed Micro-Trains bridge.
 


Here's it's "prototype":
 


The proportions are different, which isn't a concern; I'm not replicating the G&D down to the millimeter. If anything, it's a "better" model, since the vertical position of the plates are closer to being correct than John's:

For me, I did a little scenery work .. This is an area I call Mt Airy - where I have a kit-bashed cold storage siding, and the upper level track across the bridge is the starting climb to the upper level .. I needed to do some scenic treatment in the form of a retaining wall .. so, got out the "House For Sale" styrene sign and cut out some pieces.

I also photographed all 4 of the MicroTrains PRR heavyweights released so far, all purchased from Feather River Train Shop:



At some point I'll probably want to add diaphragms to them.  That's probably the most obvious thing they're lacking.  But otherwise they look great (even the non-prototypical baggage car)!
