Bryan, don't get me wrong, I like the MT 60' cars, but it's the same old complaint with them... too few releases and only one road # per release. I know that MT's business model works (otherwide they'd be gone), but just not for me and many other non-NSC types.

Tooling wears out from time to time ... maybe MTL can take the "selective compression" out of the body the next time the tooling is redone...

If I am reading this thread correctly, Chuck announced a 4000 cu ft car in N. The only 4427 cu ft car they have offered so far is in HO. I think that is what asarge was pointing out.

I don't know that it is.  But in order to compensate for the car standing too high over the rails, most of the MTL excess-height models are compressed in areas where it is not noticeable.  Some of the other cars, such as the 25000-series FMC boxcars, also are compressed (clearly obvious when juxtaposed with FVM models of the same prototype).  There are exceptions on the excess-height cars - I believe the 40' appliance cars and the auto racks are not compressed.

My bad. But it seems pretty ridiculous that they would NOT make a 4427, instead of a 4000. I'll just go on faith, nad hope that when I emailed them last week about hwthere they were going to do the 4427 in N and they refused to tell me it was because they were about to announce it. Perhaps I distracted them which is why they made the typo?  ;D

Bryan, I want a 4427 as bad as anybody. I actually would lijke the High-hipper though, but I'll take either. Hopefully we'll see them sooner rather than later. In the meantime, how many covered hoppers is enough..........a little more! ;D
