yow-sa!  Actually some of those are still around in MOW - like old tie service...

Exactrail is really going for the weird???

Hopefully they will do more, although I'm definitely interested in this car...

This is going to be very interesting. My money is on BLMA. He has a long standing track record in N Scale and an obvious commitment to quality. He's active out here in the forums and stays in touch with N Scale modelers. I think he has his fingers on the pulse of what the market wants.

Not to mention the guy who does his engineering knows how to read a drawing, and the guys doing the artwork know how to look at at pictures...

So Robbman...could you get that picture looking guy to take a look at some Milwaukee Road pictures?? ;)
I'm sure it would be a good seller, like most MR cars.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

When you consider how many 4000's were produced vs. other covered hoppers I wonder how crowded the market will really be for this car? My money is also on BLMA as far as quality for the price. But if EXRail is going to offer all these roads right off, that might give them an edge.

If the gon is the one in the picture, that would be pretty obsure. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Didn't MTL do that car?

I think so, but based on the ER PCF boxcar, I think if they did one I'd be selling my MTL cars. Could also be a nice car for Bluford to do...

As for that obscure gon, is it possible that ER has decided to go with that based on the 5161 duplicate and now the dupe of the BLMA 4000? Like the Vert-a-pack, no one else is likely to attempt that gon!

Re: Gon

I don't mean to complain - actually I would not mind having a couple of this particular gon, because some survived in MOW service - probably to this date on SP/UP.

However, if you take a look at the post 1960 or so N gondola field, you only have the new Atlas Thrall, the Atlas Evans, the Athearn/MDC Railgon car and the Athearn 65' fishbelly mill gon (which would likely only be found in MOW service today).  The MTL cars are very nice, but all foobies - too short. The ex-LBF cars are ok - the corrigated side car is accurate I believe, but the other one is not - although I can live with it.

It's just surprising there isn't some common 52'/53' gondola - especially one from the 60-70 through today that couldn't be offered???
