With the proclivity for talgo mounted couplers, they kinda have to.  Here's hoping they are cheap and well molded enough that doing end platform surgery and BLMA/Tangent trucks makes sense.

These look a lot better than I feared.  The wheels, couplers, brake-wheel and end platform will need to be upgraded, and it remains to be seen how easy the N-P conversion will be, but it looks like it should all be straightforward.  The price is definitely right, so nice job Kato.  I'm not sure what's going on with this handrail, but I suspect it's just a wonky production sample:

I think that rail is just a sample issue. 

There is something strange about the hatch with the gauges on top, too.  The square extension is something I have not seen before.  Not that I see fewer than dozens of these most days 😁

I have most of the end platforms already designed,  so I don't expect upgrades will be an issue.

The market was hot for new 117J builds in 2024/2025 and Greenbrier had the marketshare of the builds. Only other builders are TrinityRail and Union Tank.
