If anyone gets a PRR unit, would you kindly post a picture. I am interested in what the Train Phone antenna looks like. The marketing photo shows one that is a bit wiggly. I assume that was a pre-production model.TIA,Rob
Not a fan of keep-alives. They may address the issue of stalling in poor contact situations, but they don't fix control communications loss. This was the other problem I was having, that it was ignoring commands because it wasn't "hearing" the whole control packet. Next test is to run the cleaner train through the test section and see what it does or doesn't improve.I do see enough space above the front gear tower for possibly 0.3 oz. or so, but am concerned about weight bias. However, this is a B-unit; I haven't pulled the shell off an A to see how much room isn't there.
At the risk of stating the obvious here, if you are not doing sound, then you can remove the speaker in the fuel tank and pack that space with weight — you should be able to fit 0.25 oz in the cavity.
Here are some pics of a PRR unit I just received from Scale Trains
I tried tungsten powder in the fuel tank of an ST SD40-2
Hmm . . . Mike's photo of the chassis seems to show a motor similar to the ones used by Kato and Atlas. If that's the case how did Scale Trains manage to model properly scaled width hood while the other companies have models with extra-wide hoods?
Would tungsten putty work any better? I've eyed it at one of the local shops but never bothered to purchase any.
I'm sooooo glad they haven't done an NKP unit (with nose bell). Those are too pretty!
I'm sure the NKP is on their list. I think the NKPHTS sent Shane a packet of material on the GP30's. And when it happens, I will be poorer . . . John C.
