BLI PRR-P5A In Now

Has anybody received their parts yet?  The first and biggest batch went out last Monday (3-7).  If the post office estimate of 3-5 days was correct some of these should have arrived by now.

The arrived in Saginaw, Texas on Saturday.  I got them from the mailbox on Sunday.  I don't know when they will get installed.  But thanks!

That's good news!   I was starting to get worried that they were caught in postal limbo somewhere.

Now to the important part.  Anybody tried them out yet?

Not yet. Still waiting for the parts to arrive. I did get the replacement springs from BLI.

*Part fitted, yeah, wow thats a difference. Now it'll run over my Shelf layout on one speedstep without even any speaker cut out. Before it could barely get moving on its own without a couple 0-5-0 taps.

This model's body shell is so beautiful.  Then I look at those solid non-see-thru drivers and Ugh... it looks like
an American Flyer engine.  Why do they keep clinging to solid drivers?

That is a good question Max.  There are other recent examples of steam locos from various manufacturers with non-see-through spokes.  Likely cheaper to make, but they look like . . . American Flyer.  I also find that very disappointing (especially since very early German-made N scale models had see-through spokes).

Although this loco has part of the motor drive in depicted in between the spokes, so I would give them a half-passing grade.

The other question that begs to be asked is what kind of testing they did after designing this loco to find out how reliably it runs. We all know that what looks good on paper, um, a computer screen, doesn't always work in practice.

I sent a set to BLI exactly as I sent to all who requested them.  From the brief correspondence I've had with them they are aware of this issue and this effort, including seeing the thread and videos on the Railwire.  It'll be interesting to see how it gets handled moving forward.

I assume it wouldn't be any problem for them to mass-produce your parts, so the next run should have them factory-installed.
