BLI PRR-P5A In Now

While I don't have one of these, I've worked with Mark enough to know he's an 'extreme' resource and has tools and skills that have been vastly underestimated.

My D16 4-4-0 overcame a crushing wobbling limp on my build thanks to him, so this is no surprise to me.   I only hope that BLI sees this too.  There are certainly modelers in here that could teach the designers a few things.

Three more shipped.  As far as I know that's everybody who has requested parts.  I still want to put together an assembly video, probably this evening.

And here's the final video with description and final installation instructions.  Anybody receiving the spacer parts will have a written instruction included in the package but there's nothing like a visual demo.  It's so simple even I can do it!

I really didn't realize what a monster I was creating with this.   I initially wanted to help out the few folks on the board with the problem I knew they would have.  My hope would be that BLI picks this up and either comes up with their own proper fix or even copy mine, literally or in concept.  Or I could print a whole batch for them to ship out as the need arises.  I just shipped the first batch so let's see how that goes, that all is good, and then take it from there.  

I also sent a set to BLI for their perusal.  I know it's a pretty new product for them and many customers are just receiving their orders but I have to figure they are becoming aware of this issue by now.    As simple as that fix is I suspect that most of their customers would be willing and even prefer to install something themselves if they had the parts.  And if need be, somebody is afraid to do that themselves, it's still pretty easy to run through the warranty department.

If this is going to be left to me to handle I will have to charge something to cover my expenses but it seems this should be a warranty issue and one that could be handled pretty painlessly for all involved.   I really hope this all works out for everybody involved.

I noticed the HO version have much more depth to the tooling.

The HO one is pretty up there for great models, down to separately applied loose chains and wire grabs everywhere. Runs pretty good too, its my go to when bringing something along to layout visits.

Just a heads up.  I wasn't charging anything for these parts or shipping but when folks sent their addresses most were also offering to pay for expenses.  Originally I wasn't going to request anything but as it blew up into something way bigger than I anticipated I have sent notes with my Paypal e-mail for those so inclined to send something to help out with the costs.  It's not required, totally voluntary, but if a few felt inclined it would probably cover expenses just fine.   And it might keep me out of hot water with the powers that be.
