It's not perfect, but it's a good first step towards what I'm aiming for.

I've largely finished ballasting the yard. I had thought about just cleaning everything up because I miss being able to JFRTM, but I realized I should probably "finish the job" and do the mains as well.

I started doing the siding, which amusingly, will have better ballast than the main. I finished a couple feet last night so I, of course, shot a picture before getting to work this morning.

Most definitely! I don't know what it is, but I love blue pellet hoppers.

Imo, these Procor 5820's are probably the finest cars Rapido has done to date. I've had none of the teething problems one associates with their offerings, which is quite refreshing as I bought a fleet of these.

I swore I wouldn't buy the blue car because it's a one off. So I bought one... it has a certain appeal.

Yes, all others were gray. One off or not, it existed and it had to be somewhere so the Northern Central in late 1985 is as likely as anywhere else.

I almost pulled the trigger on one of those pellet cars, then I saw how big they are in person. Atlas 5701 hoppers are about as big as I want to get on my little 2x4 roundy round...

They are indeed mega-chonkers. But they're gorgeous.

Our good friend John ( when he worked for Rapido) got me all excited pre announcement on these saying Rapido was going to be releasing a car I needed for my layout, I thought the sodium chlorate cars.  Sorely disappointed when these were the announcement.   But maybe I'll get 1 or 2 at some point

I used a lot of elbow grease today.



Then ran something very finnick around.



Mostly success, but then things started getting dumb and I said "f it, that's enough for now".



I'm getting much closer to JFRTM though. Maybe this weekend we'll be running laps again.
