You have to be careful and prudent when dealing long distance with someone you don’t know.

I was considering buying a sailboat from a person in Nashville. She apparently ended up with the boat in a divorce settlement and had it for sale. Photos provided appeared fine, but were not date stamped. I asked for some current photos, but she assured me the photos represented the current condition. We took the time off and drove the 1,000+ miles to Nashville, fully intending to make the deal. Boat was in poor shape, not commensurate with the price being asked. Thankfully I had not sent any earnest money and we walked away without making an offer. Turns out the photos were taken when they bought the boat 10 years before and hadn’t done one bit of maintenance since they bought it.

She had the temerity to call me after we drove off and offered to cut the price to what she owed the bank. The shitty condition didn’t support even the reduced price and she was offended when I told her she intentionally misrepresented the condition of the boat and I wouldn’t do business with her if she was running a bake sale.

I do think that this is a pretty understanding group, either with personal or technical issues.   We have been sure pulling for Bob Knight.  And the "China Syndrome" has caused a lot of grief for operations a lot bigger than his.

But you still have to let people know what's going on.

The biggest 'poof, you're gone' I've seen this year has been gizmoszone.   Parts are still made, but no distributor I can find to actually get them.

Everybody has supply chain issues and has to resolve them and it's not easy.  This isn't like the horizontally-integrated world of our parents.

Wasn't this the guy who had access to the 'color' 3d printer?.. and an example of a BN (Wabash single window caboose).. with the BN logo printed in the model?

Sorry to cause so much concern. I have been going through a lot of things lately, both in my family and in my professional life that have forced me to temporarily put out of the box on the back burner. I posted on our Facebook page recently that we were taking a bit a of a hiatus, but we are still printing the existing orders, and continuing to develop outstanding commissions. I also apologize that I have been absolutely lousy at being in top of my emails for the last two months.  I am going to try my best catch up on all the correspondence this week. 

Sorry to for all the confusion, I look forward to getting all of this settled so I can focus on my family and new job.

So I'm going to be blunt... You haven't communicated. You haven't shown any forward progress. You are running out the clock to file a complaint.

This seems to be a very prudent move to file a formal complaint.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, and it’s all well and good to have good intentions to complete the work promised, unless money has already changed hands in the form of deposits on promised work. At that point, you either provide the contracted product or you return the deposit money. To do otherwise is theft, pure and simple.

Agreed.. Not that it is interested in a negative light.. It protects you against loss, and down the road when product is flowing again, then repurchase if you choose to do so..

Protect yourself while you still can.  My past experience tells me that once you have lost that ability you have lost your initial investment.  There is the right way to do business and then there is this way.  This type of thing sheds a negative light on all the small businesses trying to start out.  Protect yourself.

I was finally contacted by Dan Greenblatt this afternoon. He stated he would refund my money sometime tonight.

I would like to point out that I don't believe in calling someone out in public if I can avoid it. But in this case, it was my only option left.

Life can get in the way of toys. I get that. But once you take money from someone, it's business. One thing Bob Knight did at TrainCat was to tell us what happened and why.

Others have simply disappeared... Remember WestCoastDon? A lot of people lost money on that.

And this ruins the reps of legitimate small business owners like Jeff Briggs, who has produced some amazing kits.

Printing projected to start 2nd week of July......
Looks promessing..... I keep my fingers crossed!
Will hold of Paypal recovery for time being.
