...unless you wanted to see how far you could throw a railcar.

And set up an MP3 player with a dixie Dukes of Hazzard horn.

I probably have three or four of them.  All built, some smashed, some bashed.   It's not a bad kit.  Some paint and details Americanized pretty easily.

I'm thinking of using it as an abandoned building just to add some interest.

I must say ... I'm loving these retro layout threads. For some reason they seem as exciting as the old HCD mania that took hold of TRW some years back. I guess I like seeing small layouts come together. The "big" ones take     so      long     to     reach     any     new    step     completion.  On these little guys each new thing is finished up quick, and makes them lively.

Speaking of... a fair amount of track is down. I'm just waiting for a shipment of used turnouts to wrap this up.

That's it 1968 - First N scale layout - Postage stamp set with Atlas track, one siding on cork roadbed with the siding going to that freight station.
Looked like hell.

Wrapped up kit #2: the Heljan coaling tower.

This was the second structure completed after the rolling lift bridge  because I needed to verify the spacing between chutes so I could lay the track properly. It seems like a fairly simple kit on the surface, but it's deceiving: Heljan's poor tooling resulted in many ill-fitting parts, often with no means of alignment other than by eye. Other aspects of the kit are quite perplexing; for instance, the top chute has spacer nibs that actually prevent it from resting properly on the frame. Painting the whole thing dark charcoal grey hides a multitude of sins.

And Life-Like or Tru-Scale colored sawdust!

Trust me, I have both at the ready. My challenge will be to make them (as well as the item below) look halfway decent... Stay tuned...

Finished kit #3, the Pola freight station, one of my all-time favorites. It was kind of fun seeing it come together exactly as designed, especially after having spent decades bashing the snot out of it.

It will eventually get a bunch of figures, freight and other details.
