I just found a source for Rapido Easy Peasy strips for about $6 a car...  For my newly accumulated fleet, that seems like a no brainer.  Is there a reason you're not using them?

Great question... The easy peasy IIRC require (expensive) batteries and are actually more expensive than what I paid for drop in Kato. I paid $5 a car max, maybe a little less since I bought 3 of the 6 packs at once and only had to pay one shipping charge from Japan.
  I also considered building my own out of strips and nce light it’s (I have a dozen or so sitting here for other projects) but even that would be more expensive.


But if you are DC, I can see the Rapido as a valid choice since they would stay illuminated when stopped or at very low throttle positions, not an issue with DCC. 
The only complaints I’ve ever seen about kato is the uneven illumination, and now I know firsthand those complaints are caused by a PEBKAC issue.
I am very happy with them, and if I ever did want to DCC them, I can do that easily with light it’s and the SBS power tabs I have sitting here. There is enough room in the vestibules easily.

I also have a bunch of ConCor cars now, which don't have an accommodation for track power pick up.  So the batteries and the "magic wand" will be right handy.

When I was a kid a builder was using an Allis Chalmers bulldozer to dig foundations. I remember the color to be more of a tangerine orange.

Yes, the pain and cost of replacing those tiny batteries, and possible battery leakage.

Made a bit of progress on my Aliso Street bridge extension, downtown L.A. (West end scenicked staging).
All the bridges over LA River and their approaches had arched spans, so it  seemed like the thing to do on this freelanced bridge as well. The bridge is 29" long.

I love the reworked vintage foundry buildings.  I've got a few of them rattling around in the box...  Never thought to stack them!

This weekend i got the benchwork done for the right hand continuous turn back complete and the baseboard foam cut to fit.  The loop will run in a channel between the main layout and the facia and the sharpie line on the foam is the minimum height to hide my tallest rolling stock. The loop will eventually give me one staging track and a roundy round on what started out life as a switching shelf.  I have a few placeholders in place to see how the landforms will work.

That's a really cool return loop option. Has my mind working overtime on a way to incorporate that into a hidden return. Nice work
