Haven't been able to model much lately so I just reminisced about my old layout. Felt like sharing.

Simple loop on a 20"x30" board. Never fully finished this and eventually scrapped it but I learned a lot with it. Needless to say my standards have increased even more since then.

I started work on a NS SD70ACC. The cab and inverter cabinet was printed on my Photon in black. That printer was a great investment.

I took some inspiration from @Jim Starbuck this week and installed an ESU Loksound 73800 decoder and speaker in an Atlas N-scale MP15DC. It required mods to the chassis, inside of the shell, and removing the plastic wrap from the decoder to make it fit, but it worked. After figuring out where the "gotchas" are on the first one, the second went more smoothly.

Reese, that print looks exceptionally smooth, especially compared to Shapeways prints. Are you selling any of your designs directly, instead of via Shapeways?

Started working on my Ttrak Challenge modules today.

This will be fun to detail out.  If that blue/gray luaun plywood looks familiar, you should know that we tore down the musical sets last week. 

Three months to build, four hours to take it all down...

Meanwhile, over on the Retro Layout, I installed directional lighting in my Trix F-M switcher...

and took delivery of the "real" President Polk to handle the Royal Blue from here on.

I got LTEX 1452 to a point where it was presentable to the public today, so it was able to stretch its legs during an ops session tonight.  Still modeling in N scale, but this gives me something to bring along when I've invited to play with the bigger kids.  And thanks to a free decoder from Digitrax, I was able to DCC it at no cost !  They screwed up a warranty return and sent the decoder to me instead of recipient.  I contacted them the first time this happened (yeah, it happened more than once) and they said no worries, our mistake.  There is another customer with either same name or close to it in computer system and they selected the wrong person.  About 6 months later, another package showed up from Digitrax, with another decoder.  Same model.

On the opening picture, I wonder if the "09/15/14" could be the actual date?  The url at the bottom says it came from an article dated 2012/03/17, so the date at the top probably doesn't mean 2014.

The prototypes were built from 1954-1969.  They were painted orange from 1954-early 1960's and then yellow from the early 1960's to the end of production in 1969.

The model was just re-released by Wheels of Time.  The first run sold out very quickly and I think the second run is also sold out already.

I don’t know what AC’s practice was, but Caterpillar paints the tracks yellow in the factory. Every photo I’ve seen of new equipment on flatcars has nice yellow paint all over the treads. I’m sure it wore off quickly once in use, but should these have orange tracks?

I love the design concept of this in Ttrak and I REALLY hope you figure out how to get this to Altoona this summer with our pickup T-trak layout.   You nailed the station a long time ago, and now you've nailed the setting.

Really glad to see this taking shape. This was a signature scene on your WM layout, and it was sad to see it go. Now it gets to live again--perhaps even better than before.
