Any News from Trainfest?

Last year there were several threads on Trainfest and I had lots of stuff in my email inbox.  This year, very quiet, at least so far.  Is anyone on site?

I was at Trainfest from 9 to 1 and it was packed. I put some pictures in the Galesburg City Job thread. Good time, was mainly there to see Bill and the CityJob, Soundtraxx, Loksound and the Proto Throttle Crew at Spring Creek Hobbies. Stopped at YankeeDabbler, Hiawatha Hobbies, Scaletrains but the only purchases were at somewhere I forget, good reporter I am.

I didn't sleep at all last night so I had to power through the day fueled by nothing more than a 20mg adderall and a maple-glazed donut. I didn't get to do any walking around today, but I'm hoping to snag maybe a half hour tomorrow morning to actually check out some of the show and maybe pick up a few things.

Went to Trainfest today.  Spent quite a bit of time there and still didn't see everything.  Did pick up a few freight cars that were very good deals.  Missed out on an Atlas corn syrup tank car that was priced at $8.  Saw it on my first walk through and almost bought it since it was such a good deal compared to eBay prices.  Went back later and it was gone.

I decided to take the plunge into DCC and got the NCE starter set.  YankeeDabbler had a good deal on this and plenty of inventory on hand.  Also chatted with @VonRyan for a bit - remember to get some custard at Culvers, Oscars or Kopps if you're looking for suggestions and some kringle at the Petro gas station on I-94 and Highway 20 on the way home.

A few new vendors this year.  Lots of N scale layouts.  Good showing of manufacturers including Kato, Atlas, Intermountain, Micro Trains, Broadway Limited, Fox Valley, Bowser, Bachmann, ExactRail, Wheels of Time, Scale Trains.

The ScaleTrains C39's look hawt.  If I modeled CR, I'd get one in a heartbeat.  The sample of the Wheels of Time HD-21 Allis-Chalmers tractor looks really good also.  Definitely need to get some of them.  Spoke with Matt at Fox Valley about the Red Caboose X-29 boxcars.  They are on his list of things to bring back.  He is working through the Red Caboose items and is planning to bring back the X-29.  I was hoping to see the BLI PRR T1 on display, but it wasn't there.

Sounds like Caboose Stop Hobbies... we got a huge (6000+ car collection) and we priced it all to move quickly.. , I'll check to see if we have more....

If your driving through Iowa on Monday, stop by Cedar Falls... there is losts more at the store.
