Problem uploading images to gallery
« on: February 26, 2018, 07:27:29 PM »
I have an issue, as well as a few others as mentioned in this weeks WUD, in that images cannot be uploaded to the gallery.  When I try to upload it says the picture is not a valid file.  So then I tried uploading something I had already done before and got the same issue.

I had a problem, yesterday, too. After a couple of tries, just eliminated the photos from the post and just linked a video.

The most recent one I tried was jpg, 4.4 mb according to my computer properties.  I think everything I upload is a jpg.

Try to resize it to 800 wide first.

My limit is 5 MB uploads, but if you wouldn’t mind trying what Chris says...

I think this confirms that he hit the limit.

As far as resizing I usually do 1024 pixels across on my PC (IIRC, that is the max  :tommann: allows).   Not sure how easy it is to do that on smart devices.
. . . 42 . . .

Did you change something recently ?  I'm not taking the pictures any differently, and am not uploading them differently.  Pictures uploaded straight from my phone.  And I tried uploading pictures that worked before and still get the same error

Well, the whole forum is different. :D

The new server has slightly different versions of the PHP image libraries.

Having issue uploading non HDR photos directly either in my gallery, on a post as an attachment or with the “add picture to post and gallery” option. Getting error: “not valid file” with gallery, and a “timeout or file size” as an attachment... nothing has changed on my phone since my last photos I have posted in my Layout thread. :?

Edit: the image in question was 2.2mb, I mailed it to myself to resize it down to 680kb. Posted with no issue now, sorry for posting oversized images! I suppose cropping the other photos may have got it under a threshold? Anyway, carry on.

There might be a timeout issue with the new server that I can investigate...but I really would want people to do the resize before the upload so that server resources are conserved.

I never tried uploading from a phone, but if I did I'd have no idea how to re-size it on there.

Unfortunately all I currently have is my phone; I resized by emailing the photo to myself it gives you a few options of sizes (thanks google!) on an iPhone.
