Having issue uploading non HDR photos directly either in my gallery, on a post as an attachment or with the “add picture to post and gallery” option. Getting error: “not valid file” with gallery, and a “timeout or file size” as an attachment... nothing has changed on my phone since my last photos I have posted in my Layout thread. Edit: the image in question was 2.2mb, I mailed it to myself to resize it down to 680kb. Posted with no issue now, sorry for posting oversized images! I suppose cropping the other photos may have got it under a threshold? Anyway, carry on.
The problem I'm having is the site telling me my jpg photo is an invalid photo type. I can post some pictures from the recent show but not others, all photos are unaltered and from my galaxy s7. I also tried loading them to a pc and then uploading from the pc with the same result. The file size is under 3 megs some I'm at a loss to why it's happening. Any ideas?
I'm sure the problem is on my end, but I do not know how to fix this. Any help would be much appreciated. I finally broke down and got a new iPhone to replace my five-year-old Samsung Galaxy S3. When I try to upload a photo from the iPhone, though, I get an error with the following reason, "Not a valid picture file." Huh?DFF
Roger Holmes sent me some photos that he couldn't upload to see what I can do. He took them with his smart phone and they were under 4Mb in file size (they were 2 or 3 Mb each). But they were all 12 Megapixel (4032 X 3024 pixels). When I tried to upload them I got an error about the file not being a picture. Then I resized them using my local graphic editor down to 1024 x 768 (or 25%) and those uploaded to TRW perfectly fine. I'm now wondering if it is not just the file size but the actual pixel dimensions which make TRW uploader puke?
I send this to Phil earlier this week:That’s actually the problem - the iPhone doesn’t shoot in JPEG anymore it uses the new HEIF format. This is a new thing so the gallery software that resizes images doesn’t work with HEIF yet. You can upload them using the attachment function because that will just put the image in your post - but not every browser can display HEIF yet.
