Davenport,  Baldwin,  Fairbanks-Morse, Lima and EMD all made Military locos. In fact, they made about half of the MRS-1's like the one above.

Naked FP-7.

Been looking at how close other road names are to the Milwaukee shell.  SOO just needs a freight pilot.  The main issue is the winterization hatch which is a fairly uncommon style.  The CGW conversion requires 36" DB fans, freight pilot and new winterization hatch.

Need to measure it for SS grills and I can send that file out which includes the first walkway test for the 19,000 tank car and 38" plates for CGW caboose logos.

Not much train related after the Roseville, CA train show last weekend. I have been posting some photos. Here's one of a black widow and daylight E unit pair rolling through Binney Junction (Marysville, CA).

This photo was shot on my n scale Northwestern Pacific layout. An SP C-9 2-8-0 passing over the Russian river south of Hopland California, circa 1951.

A while back we had a thread about Rock Island end door boxcars from Rocket Express- finally got mine together. Still working on the weathering, and need to do something about the brand new looking trucks, but feeling pretty good about working the lettering around all the posts and bracing.

Kit is only marginally more difficult than a "shake the box" undec.  Nicely detailed and bits and pieces (stirrups, roofwalk, brake wheel) are MT parts.  Trucks and couplers are the same as the ones included in the old Intermountain kits.  Overall really happy with how these have turned out so far.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Excellent review. I'll be sending my check out on Monday for my pair to try out. I'm hoping Ron will do the outside braced caboose in N scale, but if he doesn't in the next 6 months, I'm having Red River Models do a laser cut kit for me.

He also has a version of the car without end doors, which is very similar to single sheathed cars of several Midwestern roads.  Oops, I should also have mentioned that he includes decals with the kit.

Nice!

What did you strip it with? 99% Isopropyl Alcohol?
Don't forget to sand those mold parting lines on the nose.  :)

I got a fresh bottle of 91% and put it in the window to keep it warm.
