Minitrix FM switcher question

Those motors are expensive.  I don't know that I would make the swap.  Sort of like putting a Porche motor in a Yugo.

The stock mechanism runs well, but is a bit loud with all the brass gears.

I have a good one that has a big Sagami motor installed and MT couplers with a TCS decoder installed (no headlights yet).

I'd sell it for 40 mainly to get money for the decoder. plus 7 ship.

Was just looking at NWSL site, and did not see the kit referred to. Is it still made, and what does it consist of?

I also have a Mashima motor that might work. (?)

I have no idea if the NWSL kit is still available.  I bought mine 30(?) years ago!

That Bachmann repowering looks like the way to go, although I have no experience with the Bachmann NW-2.  The last Bachmann loco I bought was before I bought the NWSL wheels and repowering kit.

Unfortunately, there is not a commercially available pilot. So, I used one from Micro Trains. Since I did the pilot conversion many many years ago - I forget which one I used.

I believe that was Trix's attempt to add a maroon stripe using a heat-stamp, for reasons unknown. I have around a dozen of these shells, and they all have the "scars" but with highly variable quality.

That makes sense and I imagine adding the grey was simply too much for the manufacturing methods of the time...
