I saw some of the samples of these at the New England Railroad Prototype Modellers Meet yesterday. They looked pretty good, although I only took one picture.

Order succesful this time! Maybe site was down, or just overwhelmed by all the orders being placed.
 When they come in, I'll need to make some decals for Shepaug, Litchfield & Northern, a/k/a the Slow, Late & Noisey.

Over on his brothers site, if you click over from BLW it will take you there.  And all items are flashing SOLD OUT .  My guess is they ordered X number of items and have pre-sold their orders.

After reading about this, if I were to pre order some of these cars, I'd do it somewhere else..

Those coaches look like they'll be really close to Lamoille Valleys excursion coaches... ( I am unsure where LVRC got them)

The following is pure speculation on my part, but I doubt it is anything nefarious.  I was figuring that the two brothers pooled their resources in order to get a bigger quantity, and better quantity discount from Atlas (who knows, maybe they cornered the market for the first container load).  But that contract would have required they be delivered to a single retailer, so they chose Brother #2's store.

The cars are based on Northwestern prototypes except for the observation.  The observation is based on a CNJ prototype.  While the window arrangement and count is correct for the observation, the thing is about  five feet (or is it ten?) too short. 

I am considering doing something similar with two observations, except that I would butt two vestibule ends together to make a CNJ coach.  As for what it left, if there is enough, perhaps I could make a Lackawanna Boonton coach.  Someone did make N scale Boonton coaches out of B-mann observations many years back, even though the Boontons are single window while the Bachpersonns are paired.  The Bachmann shorty observation is simply the coach with one vestibule replaced by an observation deck while the Atlas is a shortened version of an actual car.

I find the choice of the full RPO over a baggage/mail curious, but it is still a useful car.  For a long time there have been streamlined mail cars available, but no standard.  Now that MT and Atlas have stepped up, we will have three from which to choose.  There were many railroads that did not have streamlined mail cars. 

The MT single window is supposed to be based on a NYCS prototype, which means that it should be four axle instead of six.  NYCS did have six axle standards, but most of theirs were four.  I suspect that the ship has sailed, but I do hope that it is four axle.  I hope that they do a P&LE and a P&E, but, if not, Microscale does sell the decals and I can wait until a painted/unlettered shows up.  I hope that MT has many of the painted/unlettereds manufactured, as, I suspect that demand for them will be high.

But these were only just announced, how can they be sold out already?? Couldn't they make more if orders are good? Isn't that sorta the whole point of the pre-order system, to know how many to produce??.Hmmm...strange stuff...Maybe it's not a problem with BLW or this piggy fella, maybe Atlas is only producing a certain number of them?

I agree!..That is, if we ever get the single window coach from MT !!!!! ;)I seem to recall something about a man on the moon, or hell freezing over, or something..
