Detailed interiors (excluding baggage car)

Will be interesting to see what they do on the RPO... may just be a way to finally detail the interior of such a car which would be absolutely awesome!!!  Hope they plan to keep this interior in stock...

Wonder if these cars sell well if Atlas may offer some full-size Pullmans to compliment what MT has done... would be another great addition!!!

I will pick up a couple baggage cars. If the do some of the C&NW in yellow/green I will probably grab some also. CB&Q in the commuter scheme will be an easy buy.

They say based on C&NW, and CNJ protoypes, then don't offer CNJ.   ????

$37 for imported models of 60' cars, the majority of which ride on 4-wheel trucks, versus $30-35 for domestically produced full-length cars on 6-wheel trucks. Does the price not seem a bit steep for "Trainman" grade products?

Only question is what to do about Soo Line decals... I will have to see how the locomotive lettering sizes up

I think we need to find out a bit more about these cars before a comparison is made as these could be better detailed than the MTL cars even as Trainman cars.

Also, it should be mentioned with your comment about the trucks that Atlas tooled two different trucks for these cars.

Wes, I wasn't bashing the product. Just thought it was odd that Atlas did not announce CNJ versions, as they state these cars are based on CNJ (and C&NW) cars. I will definitely be buying these cars in NH for now. I can always do some up for CNJ, but I have faith in Atlas to do CNJ.
 As for cost, everything good costs more these days.

If you're like me, I just went out and the Micro Scale Deluxe Gold Letter.  At least Soo Line isn't horrendously long!

Dear Atlas,
If you make the RPO interior as a separate item, I need 10.  Separate baggage car bodies would also be appreciated, since I want to try "stretching" a couple cars to come up with 70' baggage cars with matching doors, and a couple 70' baggage-mail cars with double baggage doors (as used by L&N, GTW and Wabash, and I am sure others as well). 

Since I will probably end up buying 10 or so of the new Atlas cars, between using as is and for kitbashing and cores, if you happen to get in a bunch of baggage cars with RPO interiors put in by mistake at the factory, I will take all those "factory seconds." For that matter, just about any factory seconds as long as some part of the car is usable for kitbashing purposes.

From the artwork (and hopefully the final production models), it looks like the rivets, beltrail, etc, line up well between various models, which should make bashing these into representations of a variety of prototypes should be fairly simple.

And this is just begging for someone to do sides for the ATSF 60' fishbelly mail storage/baggage cars. (I really do need to finish at least one M&R baggage car before starting more...)

And once again, although I am sure there would be compromises, a car side or shell for the ATSF shortie office cars would be a perfect excuse to buy one or 2 of the observations, which are not really good for much as is for a prototype modeler (since the CNJ prototype it is based on is several feet longer, IIRC).

Looks like some of the CP cars in my Mountaineer and Winnipeger  will finally get proper Soo lettering
