Close to being finished upgrading the unloading area of the Epsom salt plant. I think there are more little details to add, but satisfied with the overall appearance.

It has been a long time since I did anything train related.  Yesterday I installed a Lok Pilot micro v4 decoder in my FVM AC4400 that was a Christmas present from my kids.  The locomotive now runs better than any of the others in my fleet, but I am not sure if it is the decoder, the loco or both  :D

I also finished a 3D drawing for one of the rock sheds on my Skoonka scene.  I tried to do these in plaster but it never worked out well.  I have a test print coming for this first effort.  If it works out, this won't take long at all.  I used plans from CN Lines magazine and Tinkercad online and it is easy to work with and very flexible for this type of work.  I tried 3Dhubs and found a printer nearby so delivery is Wednesday with no shipping costs  :D

OK, real :ashat: talk time...
The foliage on the trees looks good. But they're also too short to really be "trees". They're more like... shrubberies.

Not that shrubberies in that context is bad. I mean, I'm almost certain that they're second growth after the nineteenth century clearcutting of the eastern US, and given your era, they probably shouldn't be too tall.

But, you know know, I wouldn't be me if I didn't point out that trees are tall.  :)

Is it shrubberies or shrubs ? :?

According to my dictionary (American Heritage), shrubberies are just a group of shrubs.

Hmm... I thought a
Monty Python joke was
coming forthwith...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

One slightly higher so we get the two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.

The EL Southern Tier Division passed into history this weekend.  Many thanks to @mu26aeh for the significant help - would have been much harder to do without him.

It took approximately 4 years to build this:

...and approximately 4 hours to reduce it to this:

But, no worries and no tears (well, not many). The reason for the teardown is because of an awesome new job, and the opportunity for a fresh start is exciting.

Now, to plan for a continuation of the Erie / EL, for which I have an extensive roster of rolling stock and locos, or perhaps investigate the modern-day B&P much closer (for which I have NO roster...)

Well, some trees are shorter than others. I see trees in that scene, it's called perspective; everything else is compressed as well and forced perspective creates depth. I like, it's got perspective and personality. Your mileage, and perspective, may vary :D

@R L Smith , it was no problem, glad to be of service.

Ron posted his glamorous, cleaned up shot.  He missed this one

And if you want to get into the B&P, I have an acquaintance on FB who is pretty good at painting the G&W colors.  I have 2 GP38's being painted for CORP

For heaven's sake!  At least warn us before posting a shocking photo like that!!!  :)  It's always sad to see any layout taken down.  :(

Glad I got a chance to operate on the EL last year. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Have you seen the relatively recent article about the guy's B&P layout in N Scale Railroading. It was some pretty solid stuff!

For the "tree" vs "shrub" argument, a quick Google search turned up this:

"The generally acknowledged definition of a tree, according to USU, is a "woody plant having one erect perennial stem (trunk) at least three inches in diameter at a point 4-1/2 feet above the ground, a definitely formed crown of foliage, and a mature height of at least 13 feet.  Dec 4, 2016"
What is the Difference Between Trees and Shrubs?
http://treesandshrubs.about.com/od/treeshrubbasics/qt/TreeVsShrub.htm

Since 13 ft is just under 1 inch in N scale, and 3 inches is less than 1/32 inch, almost any woody vegetation we make can qualify.

It is still kinda the weekend for those of us that had Presidents Day off. Here is a modest contribution showing some experiments in textures and technique for a concrete/brick building in HO. The bricks are from Monster Modelworks and I used cheap acrylic for the brick and unsanded grout in 90% isopropyl alcohol for the mortar. Playing around with some Krylon stone texture paint for the concrete. I'm reasonably happy with the results so far.

Best wishes, Dave

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
