Nice shot Richie... That's Doyle McCormack's playground now and home of 4449....  :D

Unfortunately what remained of the roundhouse was torn down in late 2012.

Cab forwards were definitely up there. That locomotive to the left is a mountain.

Thanks,

Been meaning to show this for a while. Finished up a CNR class PB-74-f "balloon top" coach a few weeks ago.

I haven't done squat in modelling in the last year, but I'm going on the 16th Annual Hamilton & District Layout Tour for the first time in five years. Anyone else?

Last weekend we debuted our new FreeMo-N module "Binney Junction" at the Train Show in Santa Rosa, CA.

A year ago Robert and I started talking about a new module that would give us more options when setting up show layouts. Robert came up with the basic design, a crossing of two mainlines. Since I like to model based on a prototype, I realized it was similar to a location I've railfanned so we decided on Marysville, CA. This is where the former Western Pacific and Southern Pacific mainlines crossed. After a year of work, it was finally ready. It took a lot of days and nights working but was so worth it. We just need more modules to continue the mainline sprawl!

Well, I finally got some paint on my rescued from the trash Canadian National SGU.

Several times actually. It had previously applied primer over which I shot Rapido CN Green #11. It went on fairly well by I wasn't pleased with the quality of the body work I had done and the glossy paint showed it in all its brutality. Into the alcohol it went and the paint literally peeled off like a piece of tape. Awesome.  I fixed my filler and resprayed but the primer coat that was previously there was no longer and I think I thinned the paint too much. It looked terrible. So into the alcohol it went again. This time it didn't go so well. Turns out the primer was coming off easily before and of course the green was stuck to that. This time the green was stuck to the plastic. No matter, I have an air eraser. Of course I forgot that the air eraser removes the soft body filller I use. So I had to re fill and sand again. Finally the paint went on nicely and I have decals complete on one side. I'm still not completely pleased with the body work underneath but the snappy paint job goes a long way to take the viewers attention away from the blemishes. All and all I'm glad I didn't throw the model away.

Craig.

That SGU is cool! Is it a kit or a scratchbuild?

Looks like us Canucks are giving the Conrail Queens a run for their money this week...  :D

Heading to Timonium tomorrow to see what kind of mirth and mayhem I can get into.  Looking forward to reconnecting with some old asshats, and catching up with a few new ones.
Figuring to get there around 1 p.m.

And since I have a dazzling new smarty pants phone, I'll probably upload an irritating number of bad photos instantly!

This probably doesn't count as modeling, but I found a portable Kenmore 8000 BTU A/C unit at a Sears surplus store for under $200. The train room gets hot with all the lights on, especially in the summer; hope this will help :?

Diner progress. I believe all construction is complete. No roof hatches as I had thought previously. So hopefully I will have time to airbrush the roofs and apply decals sometime this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing the models with interior illumination. Should be completely finished by the end of next weekend.
