I spent several hours making a Kato truss bridge in black look more like the real thing for @seusscaboose 's basement empire.

Final outcome:

Did you look at the Central Valley bridge as an option?

Been meaning to show this for a while. Finished up a CNR class PB-74-f "balloon top" coach a few weeks ago.

Very nice! Is that a kitbash and if so what was your starting point? Been mulling over how to make a balloon top car for a while...

A map of the world , never saw that on a layout before .

That is the top of my desk, which fits partially under the layout.  It is too heavy to move by myself so it turns up in layout photographs from time to time.

I've been wanting this car for a while, but couldn't see any easy way to kitbash it as it needs custom sides, roof and interior, so instead I drew it up and had it 3D printed. Perhaps at some point I'll do some of the other classes of balloon tops (2 other coach classes, diner, etc).

The shell can be found here: http://shpws.me/MDJw
the Frame: http://shpws.me/MDHS
or the entire assembly: http://shpws.me/MDHN

I printed the shell in FXD and the frame in WSF to save a bit of the cost, but ran into differential shrinking problems where the shell ended up 2 mm shorter than the frame. Had to hack the frame up and reassemble it to fit. That's why I ended up releasing both parts together, so that if they shrink, they should shrink at the same rate seeing as they will have been printed in the same orientation.

Here is the interior:
Because why not...

I picked up an A-B set of previously owned PRR Baldwin RF- 16's from Des Plaines Hobbies when I was down at the RPM meet last weekend.  I had to hardwire decoders in them since the drop in isn't produced anymore and couldn't find it on ebay. I weathered them up this morning. They run well if not a bit noisy. They pull a ton as well (had them pulling 60+ 33' hoppers around my layout without slipping).  Weathered the N-6 cabooses as well this morning that I got a few weeks back. I got a new camera a few days ago, an Olympus OM-D EM-10 Mark II, so thought I'd test the macro capability on one of the smallest things I've built.

This is a Republic Locomotive Works D&RGW Nn3 boxcar.  A fun kit, but a lot of effort for something you can barely see!  Here's a link to the kit:  https://www.republiclocomotiveworks.com/instructions/RM1000-3Instructions.pdf

another gorgeous day here in coastal Alabama...snaded the fascia after the messy paint and gluing phases, then quickly repainted.
Still need to ballast, add telephone poles, and the signal bridges...oh, and something in the way of a backdrop!

No, Eric gave me the bridge and asked me to do something with it.

The bridge looks great and will be seen in forthcoming pics when it is placed in its final
Position in the next few weeks just in time for Heritage Days and when Mike's train rolls through

Installed Woodland Scenics Just Plug lights.  Nine streetlamps, two wall mounted goosenecks and three buildings so far.

My next project.......
