I had ordered a DC version  of the L&N SD40-2 from my LHS waaaay back when they were announced. Since then I've 'gone DCC'.

Are the drop-in Lokpilot decoders available that come in the DCC/non sound units? If so where?

Also, I see nothing's available on the digitrax website for the SD40-2's. Will one of their current decoders 'drop-in'? I Facebook messaged them a few weeks ago and haven't heard back. I had also emailed ESU about availability of the lokpilot decoders and haven't heard from them either.

Thanks, Mike

Call Intermountain.  Someone else had a DC version that they wanted to convert, and ended up getting the board from IM.  I don't think ESU has them out in the retail channel yet.

Lol. I have. Negotiations have been completed.

But... I still haven't seen pics of em. Hopefully that just means they're still gestating in the womb and IM is picking no fruit before its time.

Conrail SD40-2??????   Um....  I'm dreaming.  I know it.  I must be dreaming.  This can't be happening.

But wait!!!!!! In reading the release notice it states this model has working ditch lights.  Obviously that would be on a DCC equipped model.  But my question is when I ordered mine, a long time ago in a galaxy far away, I thought I read where the CR model wouldn't have ditch lights. I didn't want ditch lights.  That's why I ordered 2 DC models as I mainly model the 70's and 80's at home on DC.  I would then guess the DC version then has ditch lights much like the Kato mid-production SD40-2?  You mean to tell me after all this time I could have just bought 2 Kato mid-production dash 2's, stripped the paint and made them blue and cut off the ditch lights and been running them this whole time????? Funny thing is I actually have 2 that I've stripped and have been waiting to paint(I've been unable to paint for a little over a year and a half now for personal reasons) into the current W&LE scheme when I get around to it for a while now that I picked up  from a friend.  And since it appears they do have ditch lights, wouldn't they be more likely in the Quality scheme or the can opener with the frame stripe of the 90's.  Anyone know how many units ran around in the can opener w/o the frame stripe past 1996?  I'm sure some did but I have no idea.  I didn't really pay attention back then like I should have.  Oh well......  I guess either I read it wrong or somewhere along this long journey a change was made.  Who knows?  I can always try to get decoders from Intermountain and run them on DCC on our club layout.  That works too.  They'd make great pushers on the coal drags I run down there.

Maybe its a typo - the HO model in the photo has no ditch lights that I can see:

It's a typo. They know what they're doing on these. The first CR run won't have ditchlights.

So does shipping for IM mean they are being sent out from Colorado this week or they are being shipped from the factory in China this week? Its been a long wait for some MKT units...

I think it means they are shipping to dealers.  But not 100%

I asked one of my friends who works at Intermountain in Longmont and he said "We started inspections earlier this week and shipments started today".

It's been two weeks since the week of the 18th, has anyone seen these in real life?

There are a couple of sellers with them on ebay that have actual photos (not just a stock photo from IM) but I've seen nothing from any of the usual dealers.

Can you post photos of those Conrail units please.  I am still on the fence.  Thank you.
