TrueLine Trains Question

I find myself looking around for some TLT Newsprint cars (to go with my Atlas NSC's and find them rarer than whatever.

Anyone know if TLT is ever likey to revive them?  Their website is not recently updated and has no mention of the smoothside cars.

BTW is there a secret stash of them in some shop north of the border?  :)

Speaking of the TLT newsprint cars, looking at their site, is the NSC newsprint car the same proto as the Atlas car?

The ribside version was never built by TLT - Atlas beat them to it. TLT made the earlier versions ,smooth sides with two types of doors. The TLT cars sit rather high.

Only high enough to fly a small airplane under. I lowered 56 of these bloody cars, glad that's done!

I suspect we'll never see them again, which was the impetus behind manically buying up as many as I could. One never knows, but they're model train line is a small part of their operation, and they've sat on some tolling for years (GP9RM / GP9u).

We haven't seen any new products from them in several years.  The second run of newsprint cars including PGE and BCOL were beautifully done and I am very glad to have them.

As it happens, I was helping Central Hobbies with their inventory count this weekend and they have about a dozen of the TLT cars in stock, in various road names.  Send them an email with a wish list, or give them a call, and they'll be happy to give you a quote.  (They also had a ton of Atlas NSC box cars in stock.)

On the TLT newsprint cars, does anyone know if they ever made the replacement shells?

Run 2 was corrected and they offered to replace shells from run 1. But they only offered the yellow door scheme. It is easier for me to move the door rail a few feet than repaint the door.

I haven't really looked too hard at my car, but is the rail molded on, or was it a separate part?

It's molded on. Adding the missing length isn't hard - strip styrene. But removing the extended portion can be tricky because the roof is supposed to have an overhang and is almost impossible to carve out correctly.
