Did anyone notice Intermountain has updated some more of the pictures on their website to actual N scale production sample pictures?  They also pushed the next releases to February.  After seeing the pics of the actual samples, I am really looking forward to getting Chessie units.  I am now torn deciding which other units I want to order...  L&N, SCL, Conrail, maybe even a Southern??  I want at least one of each, but Mr Wallet would kill me 

My Kato repaints are now on hold.

If you can see holes in the lift rings, they are still HO photos.  Looks like down thru the Ontario Northland units are working production N scale shells.  ( Sorry Conrail'ers)

I was able to get my hands on a unit to mess with. One thing I noticed was the lack of a headlight.

Yes I know, the LED lights up,, yay,, but the light is not coming through very strong,, You have to look right at the headlight( either direction ) to see if it is even lit up.. Why oh why is that?

Could it be a alignment issue from the board to the light tubes?

Any one else having the same issue?. This is a CSX unit ( not mine ).

Another issue,, JMRI can not read the decoder. I went ahead and disassembled the unit,, cleaned everything up. Reduced the contribution from the OPEC nations,, man was thing OVER LUBED.

Any ideas or tips?

Mine is the same way, I noticed on the back that there are 2 tiny little light tubes that go to the light lense. I think the front is the same. Maybe if you cut those off and mount an LED to the back of the lense that may fix it?

Even my LOKprogrammer had some issues with the decoder, I'm sure they'll add it to the list of decoders when they do an update. I'm guessing that JMRI will end up doing the same. With the LOKprogrammer it read it as a Select Micro.

No way!  There is actual walk way tread on these?!? That in its self makes me want to buy some now.
I can't tell you how tired I am of adding walk way tread to all my tunnel motors.

I suspect that properly-scaled tread-plate in N scale will be almost invisible (and hidden by a layer of the out-of-scale thickness paint used on the models). But I guess that some people are ok with thread pattern with is way oversize.

Just like most everything in N scale. So yeah, I'll take the large tread walk way over a smooth walkway any day. Its the appearance that matters (to me anyway)

So you accept the grossly oversize appearance. I don't. That's ok, some like chocolate, some vanilla.

I just learned from IM's website that the two SD40-2s that I'm waiting for (SCL and SBD) have been postponed from February until at least April and May, respectively.  What a disappointment.  While you guys who got models in the first release get to play with your SD40-2s, some of us are going to have to continue to put up with more delays and waiting.  I had really hoped that the postponements were over with.

I saw that they had adjusted all the SD40-2 release months a couple weeks ago.  I would guess that once they finally got one release out, they new how long it would actually take to get the next ones.  Don't forget the Chinese New Year is going on (including vacations and travel) so not much of anything is coming from anyone that didn't get assembled and shipped before Jan 27th.  They might also be waiting on ESU for more decoder boards.

I ordered another CSX, in YN2.  Coming in May is fine with me.  Tax returns will be back by then

They just updated there release dates march will see the Soon Line, Milwaukee Road and Southern SD40-2s and a few others. They announced more SD40s one is a Burlington Northern with working ditch lights. Hope to see some of the freight cars soon.

The N&W "Claytor" 1980s scheme is coming in May now. I may pick one up and repaint it into the as delivered paint.

My Kato undec units are now essentially surplus ...
