While nothing fancy, here is my latest addition to my locomotive roster

It is a Model Power GP-40 decorated for Western Maryland, probably close to 40 years old.  This will go in my display case.  It is the first locomotive I remember owning.  I have a cutout from local paper showing this locomotive pulling a short passenger set as I looked on while it ran on my grandparents multi-scale layout.

More HOn30  :D

A while back I was looking through all my N scale steam for a chassis with the right drivers and right spacing to make a Forney. Nothing for a smaller Forney, but the slightly larger one had 35" wheels and wider WB. So I found the MDC/Athearn 2-6-0 would work with the front driver removed. Just to see if it would even work I cobbled this up in about 30 min:
/>Ran good so I ran to the computer and drew up some parts to build one. The parts came today and I built up the cab.

Rear trucks is a Kato centipede tender trucks, because the wheels are the correct dia., and the WB is right for the HO locomotive

Love your projects Chris!!

After a bit of a hiatus,  I've jumped back into some modeling and I continue to work on my small layout based on Fish Creek and Reed Point Montana.  My focus has been on the Reed Point side and structures specifically.  The real town has inspired my work but it is meant to be a more generic small Montana town instead of an exact representation.  That being said, I looked to kit bashing instead of scratch building for my structures.  The following picture is of a general store and the Hotel Montana.  I also included a picture of the real Hotel Montana for comparison.

very, very nice!...certainly captures the 'flavor' of the proto scene you posted.

Are those cab parts brass? If so, how did you design them and subsequently get them made? I have a few projects on the line that could use some brass detail parts. Any information would be appreciated.

I use PPD in Scotland. I draw in CAD if that is what you use I can send you the file to look at.

As for design. Really I just guess from years of building etched kits. Sometimes I screw up the fit a hair.
