You know, over-size cylinders are always an issue for the Proto:48 crowd, as O scale is (usually) built to 5 foot gauge, not 4' 8 1/2". So these guys have to "narrow" everything; tires, axles and, of course, to make sure the valve gear is in line with the rest, will cut the cylinder block, remove section(s) and re-attach.

I don't suppose we will see anyone doing that to the B-mann cylinders...?

Nice job @towl1996 ! Someone is going to yell at you to fix the doors on those P70 cars, so it may as well be me ;) (Unless you're doing a straight P70. I don't know what year they made the doors smaller or got those trucks, though, so I may be wrong.  You can also put the proper trucks on the RPO now that MTL sells the diner trucks ala cart. Great job! I know what a pain those coaches are to put together.

Thanks @chicken45. LOl. These cars have been in constant evolution over the years, ie. new roofs, undercarriage detail. I'm not too happy the way that microscale window making stuff has turned milky on the Hellgate models.  I know the P70 doors need upgrading, too much glass.  Do you have any pictures as a guide?

You're right. But the Bachmann K4 cylinder width seems to be more pronounced (maybe because it appeared to be more of a straight head-on shot). I guess that those Pennsy pilots are rather narrow. I suppose they could have made the model pilot a bit wider to compensate for the wide cylinders but even then they seem to stick out too far against the boiler/smokebox diameter.

Funny thing is that most N scale steam loco models probably have the same problem. I have dozens of steam locos models and up until now this problem has not jumped out at me.  I'll have to start looking now to see how my models look straight on'

This begs a caption for your k4 photo:   Hon, do these cylinders make me butt look fat?  :D

Hey jreising.  I was out there too with the ATRRM convention.  The night operations on Saturday night were the most fun with night photos in years.   :D. Haven't been out to Union since 94.
