I have finally gotten up the courage to work with the etched bridge handrailings I made for the Cisco bridge.  I did these as a two part, with three little (tiny) bases for each vertical handrail unit.  I originally tried to attach these with CA but it was not working well, so much so that I gave up and redrafted new railings that would not require this type of assembly.

I realized it would be almost $200 to etch new railings, so I tried again today.  Inspired by Max's remarkable fabrication of steam locomotive wheels (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=34113.0), I decided to try soldering my railings together.  It was a good idea, made better by the use of flux (why didn't I try that before!).  Now I have about half of the railings done and the base coat of primer is drying.

It is hard to see but these are a match for CN's distinctive railings, and should look good once in the final paint.

These should help me move towards completing the Cisco bridge scene and moving onto the rest of the layout.

While waiting for spare RS-3 shells from Atlas, something simple to tackle - a 1970s era 45' dry van trailer with a curb side door on the right and a roll-up door at the rear:

Received these today from the estate of a deceased friend. They are completely scratchbuilt and are Z scale. Steve was a diehard Union Pacific fan so I thought I would do the woodchip hopper in UP yellow and letter it for VanTil Paper as a way to honor him.The ballast car will be light gray and lettered for my Grande Valley Railway.

Can anyone suggest the more or less correct shade of yellow for UP?

CSX Hanover Sub held its first public viewing today.  Had over 50 people sign in my book, with probably close to 75 visit.  Trains behaved very well with only a few uncouplings and a couple of " forgot to throw the switch back so my freight train just rearended the one sitting in the yard" moments.

I shut things down and visited a layout nearby that was open late, and watched the owner change out an area of scenery he had on a lift out section.  It was a hollow core door !  :o :o  When I arrived, it was an airfield.  When I left, it was a sports complex with football field, baseball field, players and bleachers.  Mind blown.....

So that's what Con-Cor / Herpa trailers are good for!    I always found those hinged doors on the rear to look awful.   Good job.

Catt:  If you can find it, Scalecoat made UP Armour Yellow.  I haven't tried ordering from their new owners, so can't say if it's available now.  Top me it looks good on passenger cars, and I can't tell the difference between the passenger and freight yellows.

Then again, I model the BN, and use UP yellow more often on my lumber company and narrow gauge than for UP models...
