Heading to Harbor Freight in Fort Collins tomorrow to get a handy electric fly swatter and
rewire into a static grass applicator. Time to Silfor grass flock the hills.

Awesome photo Richie (even thought I'm not a MILW Rd. modeler)!  Well chosen too.

I also hope that 2015 will be a year of ProtoMate, (the year DKS' and NZT return).

Hi All,
This is one of the very few times I have been able to get to a computer at home in 6 months. Jamie, my wife, had rapidly went down hill immediately after the NTS and requires full-time care. I just stopped by for a quick moment to wish all of you and your families all the best. Cherish these times and make them into the best memories. Don't know when I'll get back on, but I do miss you guys.

See y'all when I can...
Regards

Have a couple projects going worth sharing this week.

First is a custom-build Climax A I just finished and shipped this week.    One of the customer's requests was to try to do an 'historic' shot for his railroad room, this is what I came up with and was a lot of fun to do:

The other project I'm tinkering with is trying to make a facsimile of the ATSF Ft-65 flatcars that were picked up from the last Flexi-van order and modified for conventional container service.   Since N Scale Kits came up with the Mark I flexivan cars, I'd wanted to make one of these as they did show up in some of the Super C shots I'd seen.    The Ft-65's were Mark IV's, not Mark I's, but for the oddball cars I wanted this is 'close enough'.   The real challenge is on modeling the supplemental framing ATSF added: - prototype shot I'm using

I decided to do the entire additional work in brass for strength, and I'm not God's Gift to Soldering, so it's a challenge using K&S shapes to make all that, along with all the additional side diagonal bracing in .010 x .020 flat wire.    It's hard to get decent photos and I either have to shoot from the ceiling or use wide angle, so these is lens distortion on these:

Dropped some coin at Caboose Hobbies today!

If you're playing along at home, you know that I've decided to take a diversion from the Juniata Division and join the micro-layout club with a representation of the Colorado Midland's Aspen Branch circa 1905.

I have all the track I need except ME code 55 bridge track...they were out.

An unusual sighting on a westbound manifest at Lewistown...a pair of Colorado Midland cabooses heading for Colorado Springs and the year 1905!

Got the B end finished on my GTW auto boxcar.  Ratchet brake gear, fashioned from styrene and wire.  Retainer valve and brake platform courtesy InterMountain.

The FVM wood roofwalk is installed also, but the end flaps and grab irons are not.  Hopefully by next weekend.

I was able to get this Randy Brown Sierra Madre Packing Co. done this week. I hope to mount it on the layout soon.

 I wrote ‘happy’.
They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
