It is...

I think they did a good job on the front grill, properly scaling it to fit a wider body while keeping to the prototype.

Too bad that MT didn't mold the fan behind the grille (the same way other companies do on the roof fans).

I'm pretty sure there are shutters that would normally be closed.

LOL!  Good one!

And whether the shutters would normally be closed or not, it would be a cool gimmick (which would fit with all the other stuff MT does).

The shutters are opened and closed based on how bit it is under the hood. Some days they are wide open all the time. I loved standing on the front with that fan spin in away 6 inches from my butt.

Yeah, when those shutters open, that fan gets your attention real quick, dam near pulls you back to the grill  :D

Pretty sure this is a SW1500

Notice, the Larrys Truck SW1500 has the Flex-Coil trucks

Compared to the AAR Switcher trucks.

With this bit of info off of Micro-Trains website:
Quote
These Union Pacific® SW1500’s will feature an all-new AAR Type-A truck side frame, designed and produced by Micro-Trains. These side frames were specific to UP and a variety of other SW1500 schemes.

I'm hoping Micro-Trains will produce all of the correct side frames, so you can mix and match body types with the correct side frame to match a specific prototype?

Now all I'm waiting for is one of their SW1500's with the hood mounted hand rails.  :D

P.S. Micro-Trains if you'd like to do one of the P&LE SW1500's, how about one of the class units like the 1564?

hint, hint, pretty please?
